Color me concerned. Lingering core injuries can be hard to overcome (Harrell). Wells is by far our best interior lineman. Cliffy and Taush are fantastic tackles (in most regards), but Wells and Spitz are our only average interior guys.
Not to harp on old things that we can't change, but I would not call our lines of the past three years solid. Of course, Favre didn't get sacked a lot and Grant had a good end of the year, but I believe that was more a function of fantastic individual efforts and playcalling than brick wall pass protection and road paving blocking. Throughout last year, we were not good on short yardage. I want an offensive line that will give us one yard when we need it, and our percentage was not good in those situations. Grant's powerful hole hitting and Favre's quick reads, presnap adjustments, quick release, and pocket savvy should not be overlooked.
Let's hope that Wells will be healthy for the regular season, that Mike McCarthy will find the same play-calling rythems he had last year, and that Rodgers develops the same skills Favre used to deal with any line deficiencies.
