LOL.

Thank God Ted Thompson is a long-term investor. Short term, yes, Brett was better than Aaron in '09 as only Brees had a better year. By 2010, Favre is done (and was downright painful to watch if you're a Favre fan) and Aaron's now the best QB in the NFL.

Go - Yes, Mike McCarthy is next.

Pack - I saw that same article but I didn't want to post it yet because they only said multi-year extension. Would have been nice if they said how many years. Not at all blaming you; I just wish they said how many years because I want to know.

Thanks for posting it. That's great news. :thumbright:

I still say Rodgers was already better than Favre in '07. The Cowboy game where he came in after Favre got hurt and played better showed that.

I kind of liked his ending. Karmic justice.

He was definitely better in '08. Maybe Favre had a fluke good season in '09. Who knows? Favre is either the best QB or the worst and it seems like there's no in between.

Regardless, all that matters is it's 2011 and Favre is retired and Aaron's the best in the NFL. Favre's 2010 season was downright painful to watch for the few of us who still have a soft spot for the guy.

Forgive my laziness, but do we have the contract details yet? Mainly I'm interested in the years.

By John Fellon

The Packers have announced that they've rewarded their General Manager Ted Thompson with a long-term contract extension. While the terms have not yet been made public, the deal was made back in December and will add a few more years to the six Thompson has already spent in Green Bay.

Even though the Packers didn't know they'd be Super Bowl champs back in December, they knew that Thompson had constructed a young, deep team that is thriving with talent. He earned the extension by sticking to his personal philosophies, developing future stars from the draft and not diving too deep in the free agent pool.

What was thought by most to be a terrible mistake at the timetrading Brett Favre, a future Hall of Fame quarterbackis now one of the most genius and gutsy moves in the history of the business.

Thompson knew that he had a young star QB waiting behind Favre, and he would have no more of the legend's retirement indecision nonsense. It's fair to say that Thompson has had the last laugh, and Favre is drowning in an ocean of regret.

Now after taking shot after shot from the media and fans, Thompson will be sticking around Titletown for a while longer. I am sure watching Rodgers rewarded the Super Bowl MVP and winning the Lombardi was way more gratifying than any new contract.
Ted Thompson has established himself as the amazing architect of the new Green Bay Packers and the master manager of the team at the top of the NFL.

Thompson now knows having the 32nd pick in the draft is just as nice as picking first.

only to some people. not to everyone.

and Favre is drowning in an ocean of regret.

I don't think so. He got to play 3 more years. He made it to the NFC CG. He had a great chance to make it to another SB. Alas, he Favred in the end.

never thought he would bring home the Lombardi trophy, but he did, and I am Glad he is on my team.

I agree! We will NEVER win a Super Bowl with these guys!!!
Hope you all enjoy a trip back in time to the 1970's and 1980's!!!
(I couldn't resist, either!) LOL!
I wonder where all the "fire TT" guys are NOW?
I bet even a SB win hasn't changed them. They will say Ted Thompson and MM just got lucky.
Not even winning SB 45 will be enough,......cause they let BF go!
Or MADE him go....or whatever.LOL!
