Oh, I'm aware. I was just making the point that they aren't completely barren in the receiver department. They've also got two good young rookie tight ends in Gronkowski and Hernandez and a good receiving back in Danny Woodhead. Brady may not have an elite receiving group but he's not exactly bereft of options either.

OK, agreed. I think it's the whole shebang though - including TEs and RBs. His RBs are pretty good receivers. I wouldn't put the set at elite but not shabby either. I'd say better than average if you include the TEs and RBs.

Regardless, with that OL, someone will get open. I actually think Brady's a damn good QB and will be a Hall of Famer. It's just Aaron's better. πŸ™‚

I think some of Nonstopdrivel's criticism of Brady is a bit over the top. He makes some good points and suggests his weakness but every quarterback, even the best of them, have weaknesses. His low average might in part be due to the fact that his weapons are better suited for a short game so that's what he uses. He can clearly throw a deep ball as we saw with Moss but he hasn't forced it deep when his tools have been better suited for a shorter, check down game.

I will say this, I don't think any other quarterback in the NFL could be thrown into our offense and have the same degree of success that Rodgers has had. Yes, we have a very good receiver set and a lot of weapons but we have one of the worst offensive lines in the league. The pressure Rodgers sees is just in another world compared to the pressure that Brady and in particular Manning see.

It's pressure that could crack a lot of great quarterbacks and it gets me thinking about Warner. When he was part of the "greatest show on turf" he never saw a pass rusher. The man could stand behind that line for 10 seconds, make a pot of coffee, check his text messages, and then pick out a receiver and no one would be near him. He put up some of the biggest numbers ever for a quarterback. When that line fell apart and later when he went to the Giants he struggled. He looked mediocre. He was finally getting an ounce of pressure and he was folding like a deck of cards. He got better and adjusted though, and he got back to that level he had been at in St. Louis. So while I don't think Brady or Manning could be thrown into our offense and deal with the unrelenting pass rush that Rodgers has dealt with in the first year or so, I think they would adjust and improve that part of their game.

However, the bottom line for me is that I would not trade Rodgers for any other quarterback in the game right now, regardless of their age and health.

Wow. Agreed every word here.

Back to Brady - one of the reasons for his low average is he likes to dump the ball off. He throws a lot to RBs and Welker, who almost always runs short routes. I mean, if you look at Welker's stats, he has a very low TD per catch percentage. It's one of the lowest in the NFL.

Funny thing is the one QB who could do ok behind our OL is Ben R, and I don't like him, but will give him his due that he's the only other QB who can do ok with a real bad OL. I still stand by my statement awhile back that Ben R is in the right place at the right time. Since Ben R took over as QB in 2004, these are the rankings for the Steelers' D - 1,3,11,2,1,12,1.

I can't think of ANYONE who had that luxury. Even Montana, from '81-90 when he led the Niners had 2,23,4,1,2,3,3,8,3,2. That's a luxury fo shizzle but he had the #1 D once in his career. Ben R's had it 3 times. Brett Favre in his entire career has had it once (and no coincidence, won the SB that year). Brady had it once in his career and no coincidence, won the SB that year too.

I can't discredit Brady for what he has done in the past. However, he has had the tools in the past and he had them this year as well.

Hernandez and Gronkowski alone contributed to 16 of his 36 touchdowns. Two young, fast tight-ends with a good offensive line. Give Rodgers that offensive line and Finley and Quarless on the field and let the magic happened.

Why are some saying Rodgers is overrated?

Citing the stats of Brady's receivers doesn't accomplish anything, because those stats are also Brady's stats. Would Brady be a better QB if none of his 36 TDs were scored by the tight ends?

Bumping this thread.

Just for single-season passing records, Brady's got TDs. Aaron's got passer rating. Brees has yards. Favre's got all the career passing records.

I could care less about Brees' record, but I'm stoked Aaron broke P Manning's passer rating record. I'd be even more stoked if he breaks Brady's TD record as that's my favorite single season one. Ironically, Aaron + Matt Flynn threw 51 this year. Let's not forget Aaron only played 15 games.

Between Rodgers and Flynn, the Packers set the league record for most team touchdown passes in a season.

Yup.

So, the passing stats that matter:
Most TDs season - Tom Brady 50, 2007
Highest Passing Rating season - πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· 122.5, 2011
Most yards season - Drew Brees - 5476, 2011

Most TDs career - Brett Favre, 508
Most Yards career - Brett Favre, 71838
Most Wins career - Brett Favre, 186
Highest Passing Rating career - πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· 104.1

Most of these stats were at one time owned by Dan Marino. Now, not a single one is. Bummer for Dan Marino.

I don't really care about Brees' yards record but would love for πŸ‡¦πŸ‡· to break Brady's TD record. Kind of neat that to go along with our 13 Championships and 4 Lombardi Trophies, Packer QBs also have the majority of the cool stats. =d>
