lol. Matthews and other (unnamed) Packers players...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/09/clay-matthews-makes-a-wwe-smackdown-cameo/

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno isnt the only Comcast/NBC property on which Packers linebacker Clay Matthews will appear this week. On Friday night, Matthews makes a cameo on WWE Smackdown. The show will be aired on SyFy at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The event was taped at the Resch Center in Green Bay, and it features a World Heavyweight Championship match between Edge and Dolph Ziggler.

If you prefer not to have your scripted sports experiences spoiled, stop reading.

Multiple readers (including Dan Wahler of WrestlingObserver.com) tell us that, after referee Vickie Guerrero was knocked out of the match, Matthews ran into the ring wearing a black-and-white-striped jersey and applied the one-two-three count for the victory by Edge.

Several other Packers players then came into the ring to celebrate with Edge and Matthews.

And the crowd went wild.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews guests on 'WWE SmackDown,' talk shows

ASHWAUBENON What could possibly have been bigger than the 485-pound, 7-foot Big Show at Tuesday nights WWE SmackDown at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon? A sideshow starring Clay Matthews and the Green Bay Packers.

Chants of We want Clay! We want Clay broke out during the taping of Friday Night SmackDown after cameras showed the Packers linebacker and some of his teammates sitting ringside.

Its a sentiment than more than just wrestling fans shared. Matthews is in demand this week as a TV guest elsewhere as well. Hell be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno at 10:35 p.m. today on WGBA and on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at 3 p.m. Thursday on WFRV. (DeGeneres has made it known she was pulling for the Pack in the Super Bowl.)

At SmackDown, a massive video screen flashed to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, where an image of former quarterback Brett Favres No. 4 jersey in a display case drew boos. And then ... the already iconic shot of Matthews and quarterback Aaron Rodgers hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the teams win at Super Bowl XLV on Sunday. The crowd erupted, and the cameras went live to show Matthews with a championship belt, along with teammates Tom Crabtree, Bryan Bulaga, Graham Harrell and others.

WWE had announced earlier in the day several Packers would make an appearance at the event but it did not say which ones.

Several WWE spoiler websites have reported that Matthews showed up again at nights end in a referee uniform for the final match between Edge and Dolph Ziggler to do the count and proclaim the winner. He was seen earlier in the evening being escorted backstage before returning to his ringside seat about 10 minutes later.

His cameo and his fellow players appearance will be seen when SmackDown airs at 7 p.m. Friday on cables Syfy channel.

The entire evening at the Resch was peppered with spontaneous cheers of Go Pack Go! in between matches, and fans looking to grab the attention of the TV cameras waved homemade signs that proclaimed everything from Go Big Like the Packers to Super Bowl XLV Champs ... But You Already Knew That.

On the more that just wrestling fans, he was just trying to lead in to the Leno and Degeneres line...

The place was ROCKING. There's a separate YouTube video of it, very poor quality, with the whole thing shaking and LOUD because of the uproar the crowd was making.

As a side note, on their other programme Raw, one of the wrestlers (R-Truth?) came out and gave a shout out to Green Bay, Wisconsin, when they were in Milwaukee. Maybe the Superbowl win blinded him. The crowd wasn't pleased ha.

dfosterf (27-Aug) : Mecole Hardman to our practice squad
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Nick Nieman from Texans our 5th linebacker. Special teams signing
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Looks like we signed Clayton Tune as QB3
wpr (27-Aug) : TKT people lose their minds over QB3. Point is almost none of them are ready that's why they are on the PS and other teams don't take them.
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Unfortunately he doesn't seem ready to be an emergency QB.
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : As a Canadian and a follower of Canadian University football. I am rooting for him
dfosterf (27-Aug) : I bet a lot of us will follow the Taylor Elgersma journey with interest. Personally, got a Kurt Warner vibe goin' on. I like him
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Not sure if either will be claimed though.
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Tune or Hooker would make sense
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Clayton Tune cut by the Cards? Don't know if that's the guy, we shall see
TheKanataThrilla (27-Aug) : Per Bill Huber, the Packers will not be bringing back Taylor Elgersma or Sean Clifford on the practice squad, so a new third quarterback
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Schefter must have deleted his tweet
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Hopefully Jerry reaches under the seat cushions and ashtrays of his jet and scrapes up the 45 million apr and spares us further nonsense
dfosterf (27-Aug) : Have to admit the PO'd Cowboy fan videos would be fun to watch. Problem with draft picks is half their fanbase barely knows what that is
beast (27-Aug) : I think Cowboys fans are ready to get their pitch forks and burning sticks if Jerry were to trade Micah
dfosterf (27-Aug) : If Jerry traded Micah to GB, here in northern Va. they would have to quick build yet another data center to handle the internet hate traffic
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : its signing and trades that you don't hear about, other then announced
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : If you hear rumors about Packers sign or trade, won't happen. Not how they work
dfosterf (27-Aug) : 19 players in a contract year. Jones called loss to us worst loss in Cowboy history. Forget Parsons trade. Not happenin' Cap'n
packerfanoutwest (27-Aug) : The Packers, meanwhile, are the youngest team in the league for the third consecutive year.
dfosterf (27-Aug) : That it was darkest before the dawn in Bengals and Commanders before they got deals done
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : what is Schefter saying?
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He was getting Dorito infusion therapy
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He's outta shape. Why, just the other day I saw him splayed out on the trainers table
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Parsons has followed Rasheed Walker on Twitter. Quite the choice
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : Kuhn is a former player who works for the team, if somethings going down, he would be close to it
Mucky Tundra (27-Aug) : @kuhnj30 Micah Freaking Parsons
