Did anyone else catch that Christina what's her name screwing up the national anthem?
I thought maybe i heard it wrong, but this morning i saw on the news where she did in fact screw it up.
Wish i would have been the one singing it. I wouldn't have messed it up.
She did write that she was sorry for messing it up and hoped people felt her love for the country.
I think too many people try to make it a "performance" instead of a song honoring America.
JMO of course.

They ripped her on Mike and Mike. I can understand nerves even from a mega star like CA, but as you said, I think this was more a matter of her trying to do too much.

It is a song we have all been singing since Kindergarten!!! How do you mess that up? (unless you are a Communist)

Poor girl....but I'm sure she'll be able to take the heat. Anyone with this many shoes in her closet (and who has enough to be able to organize them by designer) probably has enough money to ride it out.

I do think the anthem should be sung, not personalized.

She admitted her mistake. She apologized for it.

I do think the Packers won the Super Bowl and I do think I'm gonna read up about that instead of this. 😉

agreed that if she asked me to bang her, I probably wouldn't object...but did anyone else notice she looked a little chipmunky in the cheeks, and had some weird lazy eye thing going on with her left eye?

I'll be honest. When I realized she was going to do the usual Hollywood sing-it-really-slow-like-a-dirge approach, I stopped listening. So I didn't notice here screwing up the words.

IMO the gold standard for anthem-singing is the Chicago Blackhawk guy who sang it at the Packer/Bear game.

With Cheesey in second place. (Sorry, Alan. I thought yours was great. But his was a wee bit better. 🙂 )

I too think the Anthem is best when they don't try to do their own interpretation of the song. Keep it simple and get off the stage. We don't care what you THINK the song should be like.

Years ago Robert Goulet sang it, and messed up the words. He was BOOO'd like mad.
The problem was, at the time no one knew he was not an American! He was Canadian! So he deserved a pass as far as i'm concerned.
If i had to sing the Canada anthem, i wouldn't have a CLUE.
