You saw it used in Egypt this week to shut off the internet to prevent flow of info. Planned to be implemented in USA?
US Government Wants a Kill Switch to Shut Down the Internet Any Time

Should it be approved, would the following suggestions work?
Get Internet Access When Your Government Shuts It Down

If the government ever shut off the internet, we would all storm Washington. Wait, with no mapquest, we wouldn't know how to get there.

Blitz the US already has it, I remember reading how Obama could just shut it off anytime he wanted. They already did it to google and a few other sites as tests.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

The only suggestion in there that would do jack shit is the dialup idea. Then again, if the country is locking down the internet, the US government could lock down international dialing too, and you would be screwed there. Unless you wanted to form a wireless mesh network from where you're at all the way to canada or mexico, it's not going to work. And unless you're right on the border it'd be unusably slow.

Hooray.

We're talking about whether the US government can behave in the manner of Egypt's government.

And instead of vast outcry, tar-and-feathering, etc....there is...

(whimper sputter apathy blah)

Sigh.

If our government shuts down the internet, shit will be bad enough that we will need to initiate organization on a local level. I can't imagine hopping on teh innernets to see what the plan is. At least that's what I'll be doing. Family and friends. People you can trust. Gather up resources including food, tools, firearms, fuel, etc.

Personally.. the internet is the #1 medium in which we exercise free speech, any deliberate attempt to squash that should be unconstitutional.

But since when does the government abide strictly by the driving document of this union.

Been a long time.

beast (20h) : Yeah, and I enjoyed your comments and just attempted to add to it. Sorry if I did it incorrectly.
wpr (22h) : Beast I never said Henderson was the salt of the earth. Nor even that he was correct. Just quoting the guy.
Zero2Cool (29-May) : What did you do??
Zero2Cool (29-May) : Whoa
beast (29-May) : OMG the website is now all white, even some white on white text
beast (29-May) : Henderson, who admits to taking cocaine during the Super Bowl against the Steelers, might dislike Bradshaw as he lost two Superbowls to him
wpr (28-May) : Hollywood Henderson said Bradshaw “is so dumb, he couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the C and an A.”

Zero2Cool (28-May) : LaFleur on Watson: “Christian is doing outstanding. I would say he’s ahead of schedule.”
Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : He wad all butt hurt because Aaron duped the media saying he was immunized.
buckeyepackfan (28-May) : Bradshaw needs to retire. He's been ripping on Rodgers ever since the covid crap. He was all hury
