It is a nice recognition but it won't matter since he will be preparing for the SB.

Green Bay Packers CB Tramon Williams has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster, the league announced today. Williams replaces Eagles CB Asante Samuel, who is unable to participate due to injury.

Williams, who was signed by the Packers to the practice squad as a free agent in November 2006, started all 16 games this season for the first time as a pro and led the team with a career-high six interceptions and a career-best 23 passes defensed. He also added a career-high 63 tackles (54 solo), two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a sack.

Williams is the sixth Green Bay player to be named to the team, joining T Chad Clifton, S Nick Collins, WR Greg Jennings, LB Clay Matthews, and CB Charles Woodson. The six Pro Bowl selections for the Packers are the most since they also had the same number in 2003, and it is the second time in the past three seasons that the team has had three defensive backs selected.

Kind of like how Matthews got in last year, my knee jerk reaction is pride, that he should have been elected in the first place, but then I realize that it really doesn't matter because he is quite possibly one of the top 3 CB's in the league. He'll get his deserved recognition, and I predict that he will maintain grounded. In his media appearances, they have all sucked him off and he deflected all of the praise. Good man.

Glad we signed him when we did. He may have been Ted Thompson's greatest discovery (value-wise) yet. Right up there with Ryan Grant.

Thinking about now, it amazing the value Ted has gotten out of relatively unheralded acquisitions.

QB: A-Rod (late 1st rd), Flynn (7th)
RB: Grant: 6th rd, Kuhn (FA), Starks (6th)
WR: Jennings (2nd), Jones (3rd)
TE: Finley (3rd)

DL: Jolly (6th), Green (mid-season FA), Pickett (FA)
LB: Matthews (2nd, two 3rds), Bishop (6th), Zombo/Jones/Walden
CB: Tramon, Shields (undrafted), Woodson (unpopular FA)
S: Collins (2nd), Peprah/Bigby (undrafted)

Not to say he hasn't had his fair share of misses (Harrell, Brohm, Pat Lee), but overall, amazing production to cost ratio.

Glad that he made it, he should have been selected from the start. But indeed nice from Ted Thompson to find so much talent in draft and FA classes, look at our injuries and the way the entire team is performing. They can all step in, whether they be 7th rounders, FA's or 1st rounders they all make an impact. Btw can't wait to see Cutler getting Walden all over him again!

Completely agree. We're probably not even going to make the Playoffs in 2010 because we won't pickup big name free agents. Ted Thompson fail.

Back to Williams, good to see him get some recognition. Chrisbozz's write-ups say it all.
