foster I would be satisfied if Raji was the lead blocker like last week and knocked urlacher on his rump.
but a raji TD would be oh so sweet. Especially if they were already up by 14.

This is mostly for my fellow geezers--

I would like some pure retribution for the fridge scoring on us in 1985.

The end of this game, with the Pack dominating, will do nicely.

No statements of wanting to beat the Bares as the big goal from our HC, no "shuffles", don't even spike the friggin' ball when we score.

Just send B.J. Raji right up the GD middle. Touchdown, bitches.

It would say to the world that the Green Bay Packers as an organization remember Ditka, those clowns and their arrogance, we remember Lovie and his priorities, the luck and good fortune (in the collective opinion of GB Packer fans everywhere 🙂 ) that got the Bears to this point, and just a generalized "Fuck you, too" to the Bares fans, "We remember, assholes."

The whole football world would "get it" as far as a statement from the Pack- in about 2 seconds. I would put the over/under at about 1 minute for the network to re-show the fridge doing it to us.

That would add to the lore of this rivalry immensely, and Foster would have some of his revenge. I have a long memory. :tongue3:

God, it would be beautiful. :thumbleft:

DFoster--being one of the geezers, I remembered. I posted this in the Give it Up for McCarthy thread after the Raji game, but am posting it again here for those who weren't around during the mid 80s...

And anti-Mike McCarthy people, come on, admit it. Mike McCarthy did some really cool shit today. That call with Raji in there that Kuhn ran for a TD, that's downright awesome.

I would love to see that formation again this week. Payback for some old insults (not that I hold a grudge, or anything...lol)

I know you remember the Bears from the 80s, Zombie, but some of the younger guys may not remember William "Refrigerator" Perry...

The Packers portion of the video starts about 2:00 in...

Wiki-- George Cumby

I started calling George Cumby "Gumby" after that...

...In the 1985 season Cumby gained national attention in a negative way. When rookie defensive tackle William Perry was put in the offensive lineup for the Chicago Bears it was Cumby who was twice "flattened" by Perry on lead blocks for Walter Payton.[3] Later in that season, Cumby was beat on a short pass route by Perry that the "Fridge" carried into the end zone, again an embarrassment for Cumby.[4]

Cumby was cut by the Packers the following Fall on August 18, 1986,
...

Yep.

Raji.

Right

Up

the gut. (Or right down their throat, if you prefer that terminology.)

+1 to MacBob for confirming that I'm not the only bitter old coot around here, lol-- I missed that when originally posted.

Even better would be if said Raji TD was preceded by a Bear TD being called back on a replay review because Cutler was past the line of scrimmage.

And if the Raji TD made the score 63-0.

(remembering a certain game that Ditka always whines about and another Bear game where the evil Bears put up 62 on the Pack.)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Thanks for the geezer shout-out....I sometime think that those on this forum who's sperm count is higher than their IQ just don't appreciate history and tradition.

Raji scoring a td would be one of the great "screw you Bears" moments in rivalry history.

One of the great travesties in that whole year was Perry getting a TD in the SB and Walter Peyton never getting a sniff at scoring.

As much as I hate The Bears, I respected Walter, shame on Ditka for not giving him the ball.

beast (35m) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (36m) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (38m) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (4h) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (5h) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (5h) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (7h) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (7h) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (7h) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (9h) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (11h) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (18h) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Game not over yet
beast (19h) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (19h) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (19h) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (20h) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21h) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21h) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : TD but another failed 2 pt conversion!
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Ravens still alive, but barely
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Or not...BUT THAT CATCH BY NACUA
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : WE MAY HAVE BEEN PREMATURE KANATA
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Time to make dinner
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Ouch!!!! Dagger for the Eagles
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : DAGGER
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : pass plays
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Seems some of their passes are too deep. Reminds me of MLF as well.
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oren Burks with a clutch pass break up...I will now light myself on fire
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : a run on 2nd down and 17 from McVay? So that's where MLF gets it from!
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Do or die time for the Rams
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking field goals are impressive
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oh that might be a backbreaker
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : That's what I thought too, just wasn't sure
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking doesn't make much sense
