I just hope that a receiver slipping doesn't cause an INT. Wouldn't surprise me if it happened on the 1st possession (we have a turnover on our first possession for like 3 or 4 straight playoff games). *Knock on wood*

I just hope the field doesn't cause a career threatening injury to a player. There is not doubt the field is horrible. like in Green Bay in the 90's they sprayed part of the dirt green to pretend it is sodded.
The NFL is in town and they are looking it over but there won't be a whole lot they can do about it.

Also, I don't think I dislike any single player in the league as much as Brian Urlacher.

why is that?

1. He is the leader on the defense of a rivalry team that is always very heated.
2. The guy doesn't joke around with the players like even the Vikings players do at times. He is a straight up prick.
3. He has been reported for domestic violence. I could throw #1 and #2 away, and I'd still hate him. What kind of a piece of shit does that?

I can't stand the guy.

This makes me think once again of the Pro-Bowl. I hope none of our guys get hurt while playing, that is always a concern for the teams going to the Super Bowl, which is a real possibility this year.

Still can't believe Rodgers and Tramon got snubbed. Ok I'm done, just had to say it.

For some reason I thought I remembered a player getting injured very recently in the PB who was in the SB, but from what I can find online, my memory deceives me. I'm glad that's the case. They'd be stupid to play and risk injury for a game that nobody cares about.

No plans to replace Soldier Field sod

The general manager of Soldier Field, the site of the NFC Championship Game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, said Monday that the Chicago Park District and the Bears have no plans to replace the sod in advance of Sunday's game.

"We talked with the Bears and we think there's good, firm footing," said Tim LeFevour, the stadium's general manager. "We will keep the sod."

Players for both teams agree that the natural grass surface at Soldier Field is among the worst, if not the worst, in the league. On Sunday, the Bears defeated the Seattle Seahawks in a divisional playoff game. Despite snow showers that made the surface slick and slippery, LeFevour said the turf held up.

In Chicago, the Chicago Park District, which owns the stadium, is responsible for managing and maintaining the field. The district contracts with a third-party company to handle maintenance.

A league source said NFL officials would review field conditions throughout the week and work with the field manager to get a sense of field conditions leading up to Sunday. If league officials determine steps need to be taken to replace all or some of the sod, the league will have final say, the source said.

There is some precedent for that. On Jan. 4, 1997, the Packers defeated the San Francisco 49ers in a divisional playoff game. Rain fell the whole game.

The turf, which lasted exactly two games, had to be replaced in time for the NFC Championship Game the next Sunday against the Carolina Panthers - all 57,600 square feet of the surface.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said recently that the Soldier Field turf is among the worst in the NFL. Wide receiver Greg Jennings of the Packers agreed.

"It's probably one of the worst - probably the worst in the league," Jennings said.

"But at the same time, you have to go out before the game, pregame, and kind of get a feel of what you're working with, what you're dealing with, get your footing, because that's going to play a huge, huge role in the game."

Jennings said he watched the Bears-Seahawks game on television.

"I know it affected those guys on a couple of routes that I saw - couple guys slid," he said. "But that's going to happen regardless of what field you're on, if you're in that type of climate. You have to be mindful of your footing and your body lean and things like that."

Bears great Mike Ditka said the Bears and the park district "need to go synthetic with the new grasses."

"Why they don't, I don't know," Ditka said Monday.

Like Lambeau Field, there are heating coils underneath the playing surface at Soldier Field. LeFevour said there were 40 miles of heat tubing buried about 8 inches below the surface. Those coils keep the field at a temperature between 53 and 58 degrees.

Chicago officials have talked in recent years about converting the playing field to a natural grass surface reinforced with synthetic fibers and rooted partially in sand. That's what the Packers did at Lambeau after the 2006 season.

But right now, it looks as if the field won't be changed at all. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, with highs in the low 20s.

beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him

dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Hey i didn't know we could trade picks in fantasy
