Back before I started using olive oil, before I had even heard of canola oil, I always used to buy sunflower oil for cooking. For several years now, it hasn't been on the grocery shelves where I've lived.

Anyone know why it isn't there anymore?

I seem to remember it being marketed as a healthy alternative to other oils. Was that just marketing fluff? Or is it just being used for other things that are more profitable?

I don't think I ever seen sunflower oil in stores.. So, no clue pal.

Been shopping after dark again, huh?

It is a well known fact that since sunflower oil retains characteristics of the parent plant, that being heliotropic , the oil is only on the shelf during daylight hours. ::wink:

The same reason we eat cows instead of puppies. Sunflowers are too cute to kill them for their oil.

Well, actually they meant to say sunflowers, but it didn't fit into the flow of the verse, so they shortened it to just flowers. And now you know the rest of the story.
