You guys are right about Walden. He was the player who stood out on defense. I wasn't expecting that at all. It was a fantastic effort from him, and they needed it. He may be better than Zombo, who may be better than Jones. (Imagine how good our FOURTH stringer would be?)

I don't think there can be any debate about this. Masthay was unquestionably the player of the game. It's impossible to overstate the importance of field position in the NFL, and he set the Bears up with consistently terrible field position.

I think I'll go ahead and question it.

To clear the air: Masthay played beautifully. No doubt about it. And while his role is fundamentally tied to field position, and field position is important, to me Walden made more high impact plays. It can tend to be easier to shine when you have one responsibility: kick the ball. When you have to rush the passer, play the run, and drop back in coverage, it's hard to stick out. Walden stuck out. Two sacks, 10 tackles, key tipped pass -- just generally always being around the ball.

Now, a few have pointed out he gave up contain. Yeah. But he made up for it.

This is entirely subjective, of course. But Walden gets my game ball.

It's a whole different story than just "kick the ball" though when you are responsible for kicking to Hester.

If we're going to split it up like that, I would break it down like this:

Offense: No award. No one stood out this game. Even Rodgers was barely above 50% for most of the game. Honorable mention: No award. Jennings might have gotten it had he put out any significant effort to catch the ball on that interception. But he didn't, so he is disqualified.

Defense: Walden. With the exception of his one failure to contain, he came up big series after series. Honorable mention: Raji.

Special teams: Masthay. Honorable mention: Bush.

I hardly consider Punters to be ball players.. lol.. but his effort today, and that of the Gunners, most notably Bush was excellent.

And as much as I protested it.. we haven't suffered and injury to Williams yet this season as a punt returner.. but he helped flip the field for us as well..

MVP of the game is a bit of a stretch for me and my bias on the punter.. but hard to argue that point.

Hope he brings that to the playoffs.

Bias against punters.. yes, a product of the position they play.

The Quarterbacks as a whole.. the number of guys over the years of camps and play.. they earned that... candy ass me first jackasses for the most part. lol.

Let's not forget.....as cold as it was, kicking that ball is like kicking a rock!
He kept it away from Hester, which was HUGE.
he earned his paycheck today.
