(By the way, they should rename the MVP award to Most Valuable Back, since only two players have received it who weren't quarterbacks or running backs: placekicker Mark Moseley [1982] and defensive tackle Alan Page [1971].)

I thought Lawrence Taylor won it also in 86?

Pretty damn insane how many QB's and RB's have won, your point is valid.

Glory boys get all the props, unjustly I may add.. Brady nailed it with his latest comments.

Who would have thunk.. I agree with one of the glory "golden" boys on something. ;)

My feeling  always is, the most valuable player award in a team sport doesnt make a lot of sense, Brady said via the Boston Herald. I can understand the most valuable golfer or something like that. But Michael Vick is a hell of a player, the best player for that team. He fits what they do. Peyton Manning fits what his team does well.

Even Brady recognizes that its not really fair the award tends to center around quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, its really a quarterback award, even though theres a lot of great players that really dont get recognition, so many great players in this league. I dont know, I guess they have to do it like that. But the only award I ever cared about is a Super Bowl ring.

Put any of those winning QBs and RBs behind a terrible O-line and then what? It astounds me how O-line players get no consideration for the MVP when we have so many cases where pro-bowl players became average over night when the O-line went to hell.

Barry Sanders had a great offensive line, right? Lomas Brown, I'll give you, he was a stud. Who else?

Barry Sanders is the only guy I can think of that bucks the trend since I started as a NFL fan. Alexander in Seattle went from a MVP type back to out of the league. LT in San Diego really dropped off huge when the Charges line went to hell. Granted it is hard if you can't put the tag on one player on the line making the difference.

You know you're going to get arthritis before you're 40 if you keep jerking that Barry Sanders knee. 🙂
