Brett Favre has created a stir in Green Bay -- again.

Favre, who spent 16 seasons playing for the Packers before going through a bitter divorce with the team in 2008, has raised the ire of Wisconsin fans by reportedly telling Bears defensive end Julius Peppers "to go beat the Packers in a couple of weeks."

The conversation took place after the Bears' 40-14 victory over the Vikings on Monday night at TCF Bank Stadium. Favre was knocked out of the game in the second quarter because of a concussion but that didn't stop him from exchanging pleasantries with some Bears players.

That group included Peppers, according to Michael Wilbon of ESPN Chicago.

"I was happy Brett suited up," Peppers said. "I figured it might be the last time I got to see him across the field from me on the opposing sideline. Yeah, I talked to him after the game. I told him it was an honor to play against him. He said, 'Likewise. Go beat the Packers in a couple of weeks.'"

Favre retired after the 2007 season with Green Bay but then decided he had made a mistake. The Packers, however, had made a move to go with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback and a bitter Favre was traded to the New York Jets despite the fact he really wanted to be allowed to join the Vikings. Favre retired after one season with the Jets but came out of retirement again to join the Packers' arch-rival in 2009.

Packers fans considered that to be the ultimate slap in the face but many probably felt they had gotten their proper revenge this season when Green Bay swept the Vikings in the season series, including a 31-3 victory on Nov. 21 that resulted in Brad Childress being fired as coach the next day.

Now the wound has been reopened for some with the appearance that Favre wants to see the Packers lose in Week 17 when they play the Bears. Chicago (10-4) clinched the NFC North title on Monday. Green Bay (8-6) is fighting for a playoff spot.

I did half of it for you, I put the article in quotes. Now I need you to add the link to where this article can be credited.

I must say, I am surprised by this. Brett has said (why believe him?) he was over his bitterness towards the Packers. I don't know what his problem is. Many have said that Brett doesn't get over grudges easily and has an elephants memory regarding them.

Apparently he's forgotten what the Packers gave him for 16 years. If he has, why should we remember?

I get the fact that Her Heiness is bent out of shape with Ted Thompson and MM....but now he is pissing down the throats of the fans who suported him over the years, and some who...foolishly in my opinion....still do.

True colors flying for the world to see, Brent!

I still don't see why people are getting bent out of shape because of the comment. Big fricken deal that he said go beat the Packers. What is he suppose to say "Hey let the Packers win because the fans booed me big time when I walked off the field"

Get real people
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Personally.. I give two pinches less about Brett's comments in this case.. actually for the most part of words out of his mouth.

He has proven time and time again, that his words carry little value as they can be countered by more of his words within minutes, hours or days.

I enjoyed the man when he played for us, I respect his body of work as a QB and a football player, and I admire his charity work, especially with kids.

But past that.. his words ring hollow.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy an off the record conversation with the man once this late in his career, just to see if he really is as much irresolute and goofy as he has come off the past couple season.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
