Got this in a e-mail yesterday, and the numbers are indeed impressive.

Now only if the world's politics were only controlled by a gun itself. Simple truth is the with warfare what it is today, many of these guns may never be fired if needed.

The question is will it be a foreign threat or a domestic one that will answer the question if they fire?

The world's largest army? America's hunters..
Strength of the 2nd Amendment..

I don't spend my fall weekends tramping around the woods in pursuit of
a buck, but a lot of my friends and neighbors do.

This blogger
adds up all the hunters in just a handful of states, and
comes to a striking conclusion:

The state of Wisconsin has gone an entire deer hunting season without
someone getting killed. That's great. There were over 600,000 hunters.
Allow me to restate that number. Over the last two months, the eighth
largest army in the world - more men under arms than Iran; more than
France and Germany combined - deployed to the woods of a single
American state to help keep the deer menace at bay.

But that pales in comparison to the 750,000 who are in the woods of
Pennsylvania this week. Michigan's 700,000 hunters have now returned
home. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is
literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone would
comprise the largest army in the world.

His point? America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that
kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of
national security.

Not so funny.
I had a "suicide bomber" buck jump out in front of my car once. He was laughing and yelling "death to you! Infidel!!!" as he tried to knock my car off the road. Fortunately for me, he hit a patch of ice as he hit the road, and was falling as i rammed into him at 50MPH. He spun around as he hit off my bumper, and whipped me the bird as he landed on the other side of the road.

I got my revenge though.........as the very next month i was fiesting on a plate of venison steak........which i'm sure was one of his relatives.

I think the question you're trying to ask is "When is the last time a hunter lived to tell the tale after a deer fired a shot back?".

Just because people are willing to kill deer, doesn't mean they would shoot another man. I'm more worried about Yellowstone blowing than I am a foreign army actually landing on our shores and marching across this nation. I say that movie once - Wolverines.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. If you eat meat and you have something against hunting, you're a hypocrite. Meat doesn't magically come in those neat-o plastic packages. Someone had to kill it.

People who eat meat and are anti-hunting are completely removed from reality. The ONLY people who can honestly complain about hunting are those who don't eat meat and don't wear fur, and that also includes leather shoes. Although I disagree with them, I respect their consistency.

I've never been nice about this issue because I'm sick of the holier than thou attitudes some of these anti-hunters have out here. Then they come home and order a pizza with pepperoni and sausage.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
