Packers Announce Roster Moves
Posted 1 hour ago

aaThe Green Bay Packers have signed LB Robert Francois and CB Josh Gordy to the active roster from the practice squad and signed WR Terrance Smith and LB/DE Curtis Young to the practice squad. The transactions were announced Wednesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Francois, a 6-foot-2, 255-pound first-year player out of Boston College, has been with the Packers for 10 games this season, four of those on the active roster and six on the practice squad. He also spent time on Green Bays practice squad at the end of the 2009 season. Francois (fran-SWAH) will wear No. 49.

Gordy, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound rookie out of Central Michigan, has been on Green Bays practice squad for the past 10 games. He entered the NFL with Jacksonville in May as a non-drafted free agent and spent most of the preseason with the Jaguars. Gordy will wear No. 40.

Smith, a 6-foot, 195-pound rookie out of South Carolina State, had signed with the Jacksonville Sharks of the AFL, but their season had yet to begin. He posted 40 catches for 542 yards (13.6 avg.) and four touchdowns as a senior for the Bulldogs. Smith will wear No. 13.

Young, a 6-foot-1, 270-pound rookie out of Cincinnati, appeared in one game this season for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL. He registered 50 tackles, including 11 stops for loss, as a senior for the Bearcats. Young will wear No. 60.

I was thinking it would be Francois and that safety, Levine. I guess they like Bush better than Levine at S, and would rather switch him over and get another CB.

Francios... Is French.

Let's hope the 49ers do not have any Germans on offense.

Too funny, RP.

You've probably heard me tell this story before. Well, I'll tell it again anyways.

At a company I worked for years ago (back when Rockmolder was playing GI Joe defends the windmills from the Nazis), I had a German friend I worked with. I'll call him Wagner.

Well, one day, we took Wagner drinking and got him nice and buzzed and I turned to him and said "hey, Wagner, do you consider me a good friend?"

He said "yes."

Then I said, "if I tell you a secret, can I trust you?"

He said "yes." I think at that moment, he was starting to get a little uncomfortable even though I was the guy buying the drinks.

Well, then I turned to him and said, "you guys became a nation in 1870. Very first thing you did was beat up the French. Then you beat them up again in 1914, then again in 1940. It's 1998. When are you next planning on attacking the French?"

He wouldn't tell me. I was bummed. I thought we were good friends.

He said something along the lines that they're friends now. Yeah, like I buy that.

I think Francois got a lot of playing time in the preseason and looked decent. He's the guy who creamed Joseph Addai and gave him a concussion on that fumble return (it was a clean hit).

Too bad these new guys both got crummy numbers in the 40s. Unfortunately, the Packers have been through so many linebackers this year that they've run out of numbers in the 50s. We've got another linebacker who is number 93, which is a good number overall, but weird for a linebacker.

That is a good story Zombie. I have not read that from you before.

To Paraphrase.... George Patton once said:

I would rather have TWO German Divisions IN FRONT OF ME.

Than ONE FRENCH DIVISION BEHIND ME.

It did not go over well, with the FRENCH. But Patton never was afraid to tell it like it is.

I love numbers in the 90s... for OLBs. Walden's 93 looks pretty good. Jeremy Thompson's 99 looked pretty good on him, as well. 74 on Kampman, not so much, but numbers in the 70s are real O-line and D-line numbers.

Ha. I wouldn't wanted to be backed by the French, either. I'd like them to fight the Germans, though. Those countries could use some trimming of the numbers from time to time.

Of course, I can't really talk. We surrendered as soon a we found out that shit was serious. 4 days after the invasion started, they bombed Rotterdam. We couldn't stop it and gave up the same day.

It did cause for one of the better memorial events I've ever seen, though.

As for the topic... Yeah, I guess we needed some bodies on our regular squad with Havner (told you that was a great signing) and Chillar gone. I reckon they'll see some STs time, if they're even active on gamedays.

Rock.....your story, using the name "Rotterdam" made me think of a joke my friend told me.
A little German boy in school was asked by his teacher to use the word Rotterdam" in a sentence.
He thought for a moment, and said "I told my sister Sally not to eat so much candy, cause it will "Rotterdam" teeth out."
LOL!
