The Pack is on a roll even with a number of injuries, but the bad thing about it is so are a number of other teams without so many injuries in the NFC.

The Eagles have just become a team that you don't want to play. Vick is starting to understand is roll as a QB and is looking like a stud. The defense is jut as good with the schemes and concepts they run.

The Bears, not the greatest team and not the greatest schemes, but they just seem to win.

The Giants, Falcons, Bucs, Saints seem to have things clicking and alll look like potential threats.

The way we are scheming things right now, it has been working out, but when it comes time I think our running game will be exposed. BJ is adequate at best for an NFL RB. I also think any side Matthews is not on will be taken advantage. Zombo and the boys are not the answer. I hope I am wrong, but we will see.

Whatever. Just win, baby, win.

The Bears beat a team that lost two quarterbacks, and they only scored 16 points.

Yes, there is a logjam in the NFC, with all these 6-3 teams. If the playoffs started right now, the Packers wouldn't qualify. It's possible that a 10-6 team will not make the playoffs in the NFC this year. The Packers need to win the division to make sure that doesn't happen to them.

I agree that the lack of running game is a concern, but I don't get your comment about the defense, when you say that opponents will take advantage of any side that Matthews is not on. That hasn't happened yet, so why would it happen now? The OLB opposite Matthews is the only weak spot in this entire defense, and it's not so weak that opponents have been able to exploit it--probably because we have players like Jenkins and Woodson on that side, and some very solid guys in the middle.

The meaning is that every team will run away from Matthews and expose the opposite side because we did not upgrade with the injuries we suffered there. Ted Thompson always goes the way of the draft and we will see how that turns out. Two other concerns is if Matthews would get hurt, look how much the Redskins changes when he went out for a half. Also, Bishop is a bigger hitter, not totally sold on his pass coverage skills. Remember he wasn't starter for a reason.

This is something that everybody was worked up about earlier in the season, but now, it is old hat. Don't mean to belittle what you are saying here, '98, just saying that even through all these injuries that we have, and that nobody else has, we are playing good football.

Adversity is a funny thing. Could we have played this well if we didn't have as many injuries? Would we be anxiously scraping for everything we get, only to be pleasantly surprised that we're actually pretty damned good? Hard to say, but I like where we are at right now, even with the injuries.

I agree that if we lose Matthews, we are screwed. No argument there.

But the only guy we lost because of injury opposite Matthews was Brad Jones. Do you really think Brad Jones was that good? And if he was that good, why hasn't he been missed? And more to the point, why was he mostly invisible even when he was playing?

As for Bishop, can you provide some examples of his lapses in pass coverage since he's taken over for Barnett? I sure can't. I was afraid it would be a problem, but so far it hasn't been a problem. Not even a little bit. He doesn't play opposite Matthews anyway, he plays right next to him.

But I see that you are an anti-Ted guy so none of this probably matters to you.

All by no means, I understand what you are saying. I too think we are playing very well with the hand we have been dealt. I enjoy seeing new names in the lineup and enjoy even more that they play well. I am just not optimistic when it gets to be playoff time that we have the horses to withstand the pressure in key areas. I am hoping I am wrong.

Not sure where you got that I stated Bishop playing outside, but whatever. Jones, Chillar and Poppinga all OLB injuries. I liked the rotation of either the 2 or 3 of these guys for different schemes. With only Zombo left standing not sure how that is going to work out.

As far as being an anti-TT guy. I like what he has done to a certain extent. I do not believe you can build a SB team just through the draft and cheap FA. I think Ted Thompson waits to long to make moves that could help the team. an example of this is how many chances we gave Harrell. This has hindered our team for over 3 years. BJ was praying for this bye week. The guy has been good, but taking a beating. We knew Harrell before the season began was going to be an issue and Ted Thompson did nothing to address it. This is just one example. Overall, I like Ted Thompson but tweeks (not big name FA) could have change the landscape for our team since the season opened

Jenkins got the cast off.. and remember how many additional sacks he may have had from the other side with one hand.. with two hands, his game will improve.

Again.. the addition of Green was a huge rotational boost for this club.. one hell of an in season pick up.

If drafting 2 new d-lineman isn't addressing the Harrell situation then WTF is? And chillar is an ilb and he isn't currently hurt as far as I know.
