The problem here is the Packers are one injury away from Pat Lee or Brandon Underwood playing nickel. The addition of Harris allows the Packers to slide Sam Shields down to No. 4 on the depth chart and ensures that the team probably won't have to go with Underwood anytime soon.

I understand that you have a formula and you want to stick with it. I'm all for that, but there has to be some leeway. That is one of the things I haven't particularly agreed on with the current front office, but hard to be mad after a 45-7 butt whooping of the Cowboys.

Porky, I agree with your statements, but that assumes Harris is healthy enough to play at a higher level than Shields, or even Underwood or Bush. Perhaps he will go out and prove he is but until he does I'm going to assume that he's not fully back up to speed yet.

I'd be quite surprised if the Packers didn't bring him back for a look in the next training camp. Assuming he's not picked up by another team, that is. Even if another team does take him, I would guess that he'll be a training camp casualty next year and be available for work before the season kicks off.

Is Harris really worse than the 9th LBer? I'm guessing no...

Yet another of the pre-Thompson holdovers leaves the fold. Ted Thompson is clearly doing this just to ensure his stamp is on the team, right, dhazer?

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

Do you really think dhazer is going to read this? The Packers have won three games in a row, which means that dhazer is nowhere to be found.

You were right about the severity of Harris's injury. That's something I hadn't really heard about until you explained it this summer. I learn so much on this site.

I'm sad to see Al go. He's one of my favorite players in recent years. If he really is fully healthy, which I doubt, he'll land somewhere. Some fans think he can't play zone coverage, but he played a lot of zone last season for the Packers and did fine with it. My understanding is that zone is easier than man-to-man, at least in terms of physical skills.

We're going to need to be replacing Charles Woodson at some point, too. I would have felt better if they had signed Tramon Williams to a long term contract already. With Al Harris cut, Ted needs to show Tramon some love FAST.

I will never say anything deraogatory about any player who leaves The Packers. There is no loyalty anymore, it's just a fucking billion dollar business.

Reality Bites!!! Ted Thompson Sucks!!!

You would expect the players who are about to become FAs to take less money to stay on the team even if another offers them more also right? You know, loyalty and such...
