Quick Whistle from the ref is why that play ended.. it is a judgment call from the refs on progress. But it is inconsistent at best..

Every coach hates getting screwed on a call, but almost all of them bite their tongue and suck it up like a man. They do not conduct themselves like Bush League Chilly. I thought the fine was light actually. He talked about it in his presser after the game and then the next day on the whine fest KFAN.

NFL coaches cannot denigrate NFL referees publically period! It is also a tactical miscue to do, cause then they really have motivation to screw you!

I thought he took it too far and looked very Bush League, especially when you combine that with his comments on Favre, which were also a bit overboard even though Favre deserved the criticism. The Favre thing is best left to another thread anyway (and there are plenty already) but Childress did kind of set himself up for this by giving Favre special treatment. I think now maybe Childress is trying too hard to look tough to restore his credibility with the rest of his players and with the fans.

Having said that, I think Childress called a very good game. The rushing TD by Harvin was a brilliant play, and that screen to Peterson on the final drive was another great call, getting the whole defense going one way, then springing Peterson the other way. It helps to have players like Harvin and Peterson, but those were still well-designed plays that were called at just the right time. The only problem I had with Childress's game management was when he gave up too quickly at the end of the half.

But the game's over, I really could care less about analyzing it any further unless someone brings up something completely new to the discussion (about the game, not about the refs).

It isn't audacity it is a privilege that the league gives to all coaches. (not some 1 time special deal for this specific game) However the rule is that you cannot blab about what they say to the media. Which is why you don't hear other coaches talking about being told of mistakes. Childress is lucky that they didn't take the privilege away from him for future games.
