The son of Huggie Bear is still out there. He's an interesting option.

Ahman Green anyone?

That sounds like a great idea. Pair him up with Travis Jervery and we're set. Maybe see if we can get Dorsey Levens back, as well.

Report: Packers were in the bidding for Marshawn Lynch

By Gregg Rosenthal

Packers G.M. Ted Thompson agreed with a lot of Green Bay fans: He thought Marshawn Lynch could improve the Packers.

Thompson just didn't want Lynch as badly as the Seahawks did.

Pete Doughtery of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Thompson was "in on the bidding" for Lynch before Seattle acquired him. The Seahawks ultimately gave up a fourth-round pick in 2011 and a sixth-round pick in 2012 that could escalate to a fifth-rounder.

I agree with Florio that the Packers should have made a play for Lynch, but it's not a devastating non-move. The Packers, like the Patriots, are a matchup-based pass-first team that will use a running back committee. They don't need to feed a back 20 times a game. Brandon Jackson can handle passing downs well and John Kuhn is a solid enough option on running downs.

Certainly the Packers could use more depth at running back and a spark at the position would be nice. But their troubles at running back matter less than finding some offensive line consistency and locating a pass rush outside of Clay Matthews.

FYI

We do have Julius Jones sitting out there waiting to be picked up. Jones anyone? 29 years old?

The difference between Jones and the guys I listed, is that Jones has already proven he sucks.

I assume he means opposite Clay Matthews, because Jenkins is currently tied for 5th in the league for sacks at 4.

It is also yet one more piece of evidence against the idiotic notion that Ted Thompson never makes a move for guys of questionable history. I wish that falsehood would die. It's simply not true.

Congrats, you just used the funniest clip of all-time.

Julius Jones really is just terrible. I could name 30 guys that I'd rather have in our team from the free agent pool only.

While I do value a competent running game, I don't think the Packers have a difficult time throwing the ball in cold weather.

Yeah, that's really one of those cliches that isn't true anymore. Elite QBs, at least, don't have any problem throwing the ball in cold weather.

Mucky Tundra (3-Jun) : @ByRyanWood How much did the injury affect him last fall? “A lot.”
Mucky Tundra (3-Jun) : @ByRyanWood Kenny Clark said he had foot surgery in January. Injured his foot in opener against Eagles and played through it all year.
Zero2Cool (3-Jun) : Golden is wearing guardian cap again. I bet he plays with it on too.
Mucky Tundra (3-Jun) : All the stuff I'm reading from Lions fans are pointing at his toe; he more or less has permanent turf toe in one of his big toes
dfosterf (3-Jun) : Kenny played through it, and a shame he gets little credit for that, imo
dfosterf (3-Jun) : Big men. I hope it's not the undoing of Kenny Clark

Mucky Tundra (28-May) : I haven't watched the pregame shows in years and I don't feel like I've missed a thing
Zero2Cool (28-May) : Love says knee affected him all season, groin injury didn't help matters.
Zero2Cool (28-May) : I used to enjoy him on FOX Pregame. Now it's like a frat party of former Patriots.
Zero2Cool (28-May) : LaFleur on Watson: “Christian is doing outstanding. I would say he’s ahead of schedule.”
Martha Careful (28-May) : Bradshaw is a dumb ass cracker. I am so tired of his "aw shucks" diatribe. He should shrivel up and go away.
