I was questioning the same thing as a poster earlier...

The PI on Burnett seemed like the wrong call. Sure there was alot of contact, but the ball was thrown behind the receiver, Burnett was looking back and they got tangled.

I am very concerned about McCarthy's judgement. I think it was last week he challenged a play where it was obvious the right call was made, didn't hurt us last week, but it sure did this week. If that isn't McCarthy's call, they better get rid of who ever is going over the replays. That, and you have to let them score on that last drive. Sure it would have been difficult, but we had more of a chance to score a TD with a minute left than a field goal with 4 seconds left.

After all that, we beat ourselves tonight. 17 (or 18 not sure) penalties is unacceptable and cannot happen again. Penalties took away 2 turnovers that would have, in all likelihood sealed the game.

After giving up 18 penalties, dropping INTs, fumbling the ball and having TDs and sacks wiped out we only got beat by 3 points?

Usually that collection of shite should lead to a blowout loss.

Stop beating ourselves and we probably win a bunch of games this season.

It's because we're a far better team than we played. You know, like happens every year for the first 8-10 weeks?

Ahem [clears throat] I'd say special teams had something to do with it too. Jus' sayin'.

If only this team could play up to it's potential in the first few weeks. :-\

Technically, we played that bad and got beat in the final few seconds.

Which is still very surprising. We were clearly a more talented squad (minus Special Teams).

No, it wasn't. He was being held onto by the WR.

Actually, it affected the outcome. No one thing can ever decide a game. Football is a situational sport and the Packers had to go 90-plus yards on two drives to score a TD. At the rate they were committing penalties, a shorter field for the offense would've helped the tackles out a bit. Especially since they were wearing down as those drives went on because they had to pass block. The penalties shouldn't overshadow just how poorly the special teams play was.

It irks me that Rodgers has another INT on his record. Had they just taken a knee there, instead of endangering our WRs with a jump ball (I can't remember which one, but one of them came down really awkwardly), his stat line would look essentially flawless.

And yes, I would still think this even had a miraculous TD catch been made.

Or they could just designate objective criteria by which the calls can be made, instead of relying on the subjectivity of the refs. The refs decide the outcomes of enough games the way it is.
