I can't see any drop in Driver yet.

I actually had been disappointed in how many drops he had late in the season. So maybe you have seen some drops :P

But seriously, get rid of Driver? No way. Such a good player and great teammate/person to have on OUR team.

If we get rid of him this offseason I will be beyond pissed.

Nice pun. If drops is age related, we better shit can the whole crew.

I like Driver as much as anybody else but if after his contract runs out he wants to make as much as #1 WRs while being the #3 target on the team he probably won't be sticking around. It's not a bad thing really just the way it works.

I don't see how anyone can justify letting a player go who not only had a 1000 yard season (seen as a benchmark for "good season") AND

a) Is a team leader, on a young team
b) Has been on the team the longest
c) Can still produce magic (Rams catch)
d) Keeps in such good shape, that he can probably transition roles easily

Driver is an essential until he decides to hang em up.

Put this here because some of the same type of sentiment has been made regarding Al...It is always interesting to see what perceptions are when folk start to get old in "NFL years". I'm not changing the subject, just trying to add some "spice", and recognize that nothing is really said here about Al "currently". They ARE very similar in their "relatively quiet" contributions to our franchise.

High praise for Al Harris
Posted: Jan. 23, 2010

In a press call last week, Deion Sanders was asked to name four defensive backs, two cornerbacks and two safeties, that he considered the best at the position in the last decade.

"Oh, my God, that is tough, my man," Sanders said. "OK. (Baltimore's) Ed Reed (is) a safety for certain, and (Denver's) Brian Dawkins would be the other safety. I would have to say at the cornerback it would have to be (Denver's) Champ Bailey because of the body of work he's put in, the body of work. I know (New York Jets') Darrelle Revis and (Green Bay's) Charles Woodson, they are superb corners, but the body of work Champ Bailey has laid, he has a tremendous foundation."

As for the other corner?
"Yeah, that would probably be Charles Woodson," Sanders said. "No, no, (Green Bay's) Al Harris.

"Al Harris, his first Pro Bowl was last year," Sanders said. "Doesn't talk . much. He doesn't say much. Very underrated. . This guy over the last several years would be the best corner in the game. Only guy that took a man, the top receiver, top opposing receiver on the opposing team man-to-man each game.

Flip side, the reason Charles Woodson had a rebirth from Oakland is because when he went to Green Bay. He was taking a second receiver and got his confidence back. Then he was able to overtake Al and take the top receiver. That's why Charles is Charles now, but Al Harris has been the best corner over probably the last several years."

In the decade of the '90s, Sanders was the top cornerback in football, playing in eight Pro Bowls. Twice he was NFL defensive player of the year.

He was named to the NFL '90s All-Decade Team.

Meon don't know much, but he knows that job.

This shows you how much football is about the flashy plays, though. I've heared Deion talk about Harris for ages. He's always saying that he's the reason for Woodson's superb play, he's the reason why this defense was so good against the passing game.

Problem is, for Pro Bowl and All Pro votes, he doesn't make the big time interceptions. The only real memorable int for me came in that Seahawks game in 2003.

I don't know how long either of these players will keep going, but they should both go down as two of the best in franchise history. Even if Al Harris doesn't have the stats. It's the hidden stats, the way he shut down receivers, which is what you want from a corner. If he can go and do what Woodson does, that's one hell of an extra.

Well i can see Teddy releasing both players Harris could be justified because the past few seasons he can't stay healthy. But if He gets rid of Driver i see Teddy's stay in Green Bay getting short.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I think you actively pursue shit to flip out about. I think I understand some of the motivation, as I engage in the activity myself.

One thing I think you don't understand is how Ted rolls. The reason I think that is because it is impossible to know, so how is it that you are in the unique position to do so?

Let's take Donald, as that would be more controversial- I think we can agree on that. I think that you think that Ted would make a decision to get rid of Donald in some sort of authoritarian vacuum, and I also think that many fans think like you think. I think that is sheer nonsense, that's what I think.

I think if you had thought to add..."and our wide receiver corps suffers because of it." (Possibility of Ted going bye-bye) you would have a more valid argument.

I think that the FO does concern itself with what the fanbase thinks about their decisions, but I have no way of knowing what weight they place upon it, and suspect that is highly situational, but that is only a suspicion.

You have had ample proof that this organization does not bend or fold to the whims of noisy amongst us...Moss, Gonzales, Favre, etc.

They have to fail enough to make Murphy scared to get in front of the (45 man?) freebie honchos WITH NOT GOOD ENOUGH ANSWERS as to WHY they did something or did not do something.

I say a Ted would bounce a decision like that off Murphy. You might disagree. I don't know one way or another, and don't know if it would matter.

I'm not saying I am right and that you are wrong, but you might wear out the gif feature on your avatar while waiting, lol.

Harrison is a bad example. Definitely on the decline.

Rice, Lott, and Montana are better examples. They proved they still had it and if I'm not mistaken, Rice had at least 2 more Pro Bowls after leaving the Niners. Montana led his team to the AFC CG so he still had it.

Favre I'm not getting into.

McNair don't know enough about as he's AFC and I don't give a **** about the AFC.

Driver will be a Packer next year and will either be our #1 or #2 WR. Jones still isn't as good as Driver (maybe another year). And yes, Jones is better than Jordy, with all due respect for Jordy as I really like him too, but just saying Jones is better.

zombie, a pro bowl means diddly shit. I know of a QB who led the league in interceptions and still made the pro bowl so take that comment off your 'haha told ya so' list.

he had two more pro bowls ... geesh ... weak

I'm not sure how Lott was with the Jets and Raiders. I remember it looked weird to me though.

I don't see Driver going anywhere.
