I believe it was during the 2008 preseason, Pat Lee was returning kicks. The ones i saw him return he did a pretty good job. I wonder if we will see him returning kicks at all next season.

The play that put him on IR in pre season was a nice 40+ yard return.

I expect he'll certainly be in the mix come training camp.

In the preseason, I thought he was the great hope for our kick return team. He was hurt for most of the preseason, then when he finally got to return one, he did a great job, only to get injured on the play. I've heard that he would've been able to play by around week nine or so, but they could not afford to save a roster spot for him till then. So he is already fully up to speed. I would love to see him returning kicks again. He looks like a really good athlete.

I remember that hit on the return. Right at the sideline helmet to the side of the knee. As soon as he started limping on the sideline, I figured he would be gone.

The time I have seen Lee, he has not looked all that bad. The little game time he had in 08' he was solid except for a slip on a game everybody was falling.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I'd love for him to take one of the CB spots. At the beginning of the year, before Al is ready to come back, and if Pat Lee comes up and owns the nickle spot. That'd be good.

As silly as this sounds, I'm more hoping for a KR right now than a CB. Last time we had a return specialist that was elite, we won a SB and that guy got the SB MVP.

We really could use both (exhibit A: Cards score 51), but I know where you're coming from. I said several weeks ago that the loss of our punt returner, Will Blackmon, to injury was a bigger loss than Aaron Kampman, because he was harder to replace. It would also help a lot to have a really good kick returner. Pat Lee might be that guy.

I dogged Dhaze (just slightly-he wanted to use our 2nd rounder on him)

about that kid Trindon Holliday. He's a KR/PR specialist for LSU, I suspect Dhaze is "onto" him because Penn State played LSU and the kid scared the crap out of him.

The kid is like 5'5" and a buck and a half.

Talk about intriguing---

He is a track guy, but he can play. He can friggin' scat. He's not just track fast (might lose him to the Olympics) he's football fastER. I figure we could put him in one of the pockets of one of our blockers and pop him out mid-field.

:tongue3:

I just worry about him getting killed out there.

I wonder what the fastest time EVER run in the 40 is...

I bet this kid threatens that time...he is lightning out of the blocks. I'd go our compensatory 5th rounder for him...we'd have something to talk about all off season. He is going to scare the crap out of SOME team/division rival back there as a kr / pr----let it be someone besides us, lol

I wouldn't put much Mike Stock into how Pat Lee performed during preseason kick returns.

The sample size is small, and the level of competition in preseason is not the same as the regular season, as our OL demonstrated quite well.

I'd love to see Lee compete in a competition for the job, of course, but let's have a think:

Jordy Nelson has been returning decently well over the course of the season.

Ranking NFL kick returns on average, minus each player's season best, sees Jordy Nelson as having one of the most consistent returns in the league. I just spent a couple of minutes, and this is where Jordy is ranked (minimum of 10 attempts):
27.3 - Clifton Smith
27.2 - Bernard Scott
26.6 - Johnny Knox
26.2 - Josh Cribbs
25.7 - Percy Harvin
25.6 - Stefan Logan
25.4 - Danieal Manning
24.8 - Ben Obamanu
24.5 - Eric Weems
24.3 - Josh Morgan
24.2 - Jordy Nelson

Nelson is ranked 27th out of all kick returners.
