Haze, it's not cornerback of the year. It's defensive PLAYER of the year. Tell me Revis has had a better overall year than Woodson - please, I'd love to hear your argument. Where are his sacks? Tackles? Forced fumbles?

If it isn't Woodson, the award's a joke.

As far as him only playing one position, almost all of your DPOY play one position. I don't see Ray Lewis trying to cover Moss

Do the same people who vote for player of the month also vote for defensive player of the year? If not, then winning player of the month won't do anything for Woodson.

I think you can make a good case for either Woodson or Revis. It's a bit of apples and oranges even though they play the same position. Shutting down an opponent's best receiver is not something to be taken lightly, and Revis has done that better than Woodson has. Also, we are all biased because we've watched Woodson play all season and most of us have seen little or nothing of Revis.

I wouldn't say he is a shoe in seeing there is actually a better CB playing yet. But with Woodson playing many positions should help him, but its hard to not look at what Revis has done to all the top wrs this year. Look at these stats

Revis is going to win, if the indication of the NFL.com analysts, popularity or sports announcers means anything.

if diversity of stats mean anything, Woodson will win.

it's a shame, because taken as a package of dynamic ability it's so fucking easy to see how Woodson overshadows every single player in the NFL right now. the superman goal-line tackle with only his hand is all i'd need to show the judges.

I don't think it's fair to specifically compare Woodson's stats vs. Revis as far as receiver's numbers. I'm pretty sure Revis is in man-to-man coverage most of the time. Woodson, however, plays zone coverage the majority of the time. So to compare what individual receivers have done "against" the two is misleading, in my opinion.

It's one thing to shut down a teams #1 receiver. But many teams have more then capable number two and threes that can make the other side of the field pay. As had been stated, Woodson is all over the field and has had more of a comprehensive impact not only in the passing game but the running game as well.

I think you have take into account the teams situation before you say Revis did a great job against those receivers. Take T.O. for instance. His body of work this whole season wasn't that good. Look who his QBs have been. It's easier to cover a receiver when he doesn't have a good QB to throw it to him.

Same goes for the Panthers. They have had QB issues this whole season.

Bengals....... Palmers season has been mediocre at best.

Falcons...... Ryan has not looked nearly as good as he did last year.


I'm willing to bet CW would have not only done better in those situations but he would have more picks than he currently does.

I wonder how much everyone here has seen Revis play this season? I've barely seen him at all, because the Jets aren't on TV much where I live and they're kind of a boring team anyway. That's why I can't say that Woodson is definitely better than Revis. I've seen all of Woodson's games--most of them twice, in fact--but most of what I know about Revis is secondhand.

I don't think the Jets making the playoffs is going to make much of a difference for Revis. I heard plenty of buzz about him even when the Jets looked like they were going to miss the playoffs.
