Coaches take opposite tactics as Packers rout Cardinals, eye playoff matchup

By Bob Baum (CP) 6 hours ago

Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, however, said the game "kind of really didn't mean anything."

"I guess if they want to celebrate it they can go ahead," Dockett said. "But us personally, we know we've got some work to do and our main focus is next weekend."

I got my wish. I wanted the Packers to play aggressively for most, if not all, of the game, and they did. Though I've been critical of our head coach most of the season, I'm so proud of Mike McCarthy right now. I couldn't have asked for a better end to our season. Except maybe to have given Rodgers the passing record.

Agreed. The Packers could not be in a better position going into the Playoffs. I just wanted to say that Dockett's comments are calssic for a team that WANTED to play well with their starters in the first half but didnt. Its like when you were a kid and playing a sport/game etc...and when you get beat badly you all of a sudden say that you werent even trying and the game is stupid anyway. LOL.

Who was it that said "You play To Win The Game!"?

"Making matters worse, NBC Football Night in America analyst Tony Dungy says the Cardinals are at an advantage by not showing their hand while Green Bay played to winand were all aware of Dungys track record in this area. But if youre not, please refer back to playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts on January 15, 2006."

I guess when you become an analyst your views are different then when you were a HC.

I don't see much of a worry going into next week's game against the Cardinals. As far as they are concerned they just got routed even when their starters were in the game.

I personally get tired of teams taking a game off (but do understand in this case I guess). But from what I see, it leaves room for excuses from the team that got beat. "Just wait till next week.." Okay...if I were the Cardinals, I would be pooping and pissing my pants right now.

Cardinals didn't show much and quite honestly, what is there to show on the offensive side? Throw to Fitzgerald and Boldin....end of gameplan.

If the same Packers come out next week (which I am confident about), Cardinals do not stand a chance.

Let's not get too confident. The Cards were without Adrian Wilson, their version of Charles Woodson. Wilson can cover, has great instincts, and is one of the few players with the skill set to match-up against Finley well.

Warner is great against the Blitz; not as good as Favre, but still top-notch. He can hurt you, and do it in a hurry.

Fitz and Boldin are going to be tough. You can bet they'll set those guys in motion and/or play them from the slot to get match-up advantages.

DRC is a probowl corner. He has the tools to hold his own against someone like Jennings.

The Cards are a talented team. You have to credit the Packers, but you can't discredit the Cards; they return much the same starters that came within seconds of winning the Superbowl last year.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Packers should be feeling confident going into the game.

When a starter like Darnell Dockett from the Cards - one of their more physical players - says the Packers are the best team he's seen, you know the Packers are in good shape and doing something right.

But at the same time, expect the Cards to come out knowing there going to have to play at a very high level - one they are very capable of playing at - to win. Should be a fun match next week. 😃

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
