Bigbys second pick came in the third quarter, when Hasselbeck tried to throw deep to receiver Deion Branch, who was covered by Woodson.

Woodson actually told me it was coming, Bigby said. He said it was going to be a deep route, so I just stayed deep, listened to the veteran and boom.

Woodson said: I had seen that set a number of times, and I just let him know what they were going to run. Either they throw it short enough and I get it, or they throw it long and he gets it.

I'd hate to play him in the old Techmo Bowl, you remember the one where you only had 4 plays per team? When someone picked your play, you were screwed. I bet Woody's the Packers' Techmo Bowl champion.

Peter King really IS a dolt. From his post-season awards article , also linked in the Thompson thread:

CB Charles Woodson, Green Bay
Second to Revis in my defensive player of the year thinking. He and Ed Reed are best secondary playmakers in football.

I get that Revis is a stud CB - I'm even willing to agree that he's the best CB playing at this time. But DPOY is not Cornerback Of The Year - it's Defensive Player, and with the ints, pick-sixes, sacks, tackles, and forced fumbles that Chuckwood has on his resume this year, how do you NOT give him the award?

It's guys like King who get so dazzled by young players who could cost Woody this award, which he has so righteously EARNED. Bah.

It's the Al Harris stat line that Revis has going for him. Good receivers don't do well matched up on him. Woodson, on the other hand, plays pass and run equally well, and came up with game changing plays a bunch of times this year. He was responsible for 13 takeaways in 16 games (I'm pretty sure we recovered all 4 of his FF's, didn't we?). That's just an absurd frequency. Revis has 10 more passes defended than Woodson. Woodson has 3 more INTs and 20 more tackles.

dfosterf (21h) : Today would be a good day to discover the Pack signed Taylor Engersma, the Canadian QB
Zero2Cool (11-May) : It wasn't. He simply wanted his money back. They refused. Cops came. They gave him his money in end.

Martha Careful (5-May) : Yes, in the military S2’s work on IPB, PERCEC, PHYSEC and IO
dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
    Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
    Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Matthew Golden spoke with Randall Cobb before draft. Looked like chance encounter.

    Zero2Cool (1-May) : Unlikely.
dfosterf (30-Apr) : How long until Jeff Sperbeck's family sues John Elway ?
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : Packers are exercising the fifth-year option on DT Devonte Wyatt, locking in a guaranteed $12.9M for the 2026 season.
