I wonder if Nick Folk screwing up is helping Mason keep his job. They are trying out 6 kickers in Dallas right now. Folk looked SO BAD that I cannot help but think that Crosby is saying "thank-you Lord" for Nick's screw-ups...making him (Mason) look almost good in comparison.

I blame it on global warming.

Looking at the list of kickers trying out for Dallas...

Sad set of alternatives...

I am going to (VERY reluctantly) have to back Mike for one more week on this one.

He actually does deserve props for his pronouncements--- IF -----

he looked at the same list I looked at and decided as I decided that we have not much of a choice, and the best thing to do is to TRY and prop Mason up mentally.

Friggin' kickers will drive ya..

Hm... he did something similar to this for Aaron Rodgers and look how he is doing...

Was Aaron Rodgers incapable of throwing a ball 20 yards and have it land within 5 yards of a receiver? Was he blaming his wide receivers, and when the WRs were replaced still having problems? Was he making terrible passes on screens that just barely cut it?

Kind of a hard comparison between Rodgers and Crosby. He can't even kick half his PATs straight, he's going to miss a PAT before the end of the year.

Does anybody else feel like the coaching staff doesn't believe Crosby is the problem. With all of the holder changes it, seems like they think the holder is the cause of Crosby's struggles.

If Mason ends up costing us a playoff spot you guys will be singing a different tune.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your freakout here, IM.

All I'm saying is that what Dallas just tried to unscrew Folk was a major backfire, and I can see WHY MM is backing Mason.

Dallas held a kicking competition the week before, and Folk retained his job.

And got worse. Much worse. The dude has the yips now.

I say go back to Matt holding, it will probably put Mason back into his comfort zone a little bit, don't mess with him, and pray.

If the only guys out there on the street right now are guys like Suisham, who was pretty much cut for to many misses, then I don't think making a change at this stage is worth it. If there was a kicker you'd have 100% confidence floating out there to kick in Lambeau in December, go get him, but let's be honest here, there isn't one.

At this point of the year, don't shake what little confidence Mason might even have left. Continue to express confidence him, hope he can shake himself out of it, and some how pray Mason Wide CRightsby doesn't cost you a big game down the stretch.

You just better hope Thomspon is doing his homework on kickers coming out of the draft next Spring, because I'd be absolutely floored if they do not bring in some legitimate competition for Mason next year.

Dont tell me there isnt another kicker on the street right now who cant kick a 34 yard field goal consistently. Jesus Christ thats like High School Kicker field goal range and this is the PROS.

Who cares about his big leg and potential just give me someone who can kick a 30 yard FG for the love of God.

Perhaps this is how it went down...

McCarthy: Mason we are going to make a change.

Crosby: No you are not, I am not coming out.

McCarthy: Ok.

He was kicking 60-yard goals in college. Bring in his college kicking coach, no matter what the cost. If we have to get rid of Moss to bring him in, so be it. 😉
