Not enough passes to go round.

Just imagine what it'll be like next season if we draft a WR in round 1.

I'm kind of surprised Driver didn't talk with the media Thursday or after the game. He's normally a very team player, but this article implies that he didn't talk to the media because he's not happy about his low catch/target total.

I'm thinking there is another reason.

I also think that towards the bottom of the article says it all. Maybe mm is trying to find out what the limits to using Finley are to know for the playoffs and the future. If so, would it be hurt to tell the team?

We had a thread early this year, prior to Finley's knee injury.. this isn't a new trend it just might be more focused now with other issues quieting down.

If the receivers have an issue with it.. tough shit. You gameplan to win the freaking game and whatever gives you the best option to do so.

Do I believe Finley's personality might have more to do with the potential issue.. maybe.. he is young and loud.

if Drive is upset about anything, it's his drops/fumbles/deflections the past few games, imo. that would make me cranky, anyways.

Also, Finley is a beat. My brother and I were talking a few weeks ago. Pete (my brother) said Finley reminds him of Tony Gonzalez. I said Finley reminded me of Antonio Gates. Pete then said, "well, yeah. Gates is the new Gonzalez." I said, "Finley is the new Gates!". Then I got a boner.

Oh, bozz....spare us your boner stories!! LOL

Dude is becoming a monster...add that to an always deep WR rotation, and that spells trouble for opposing defenses.

How many more "rock star" type players must Ted Thompson draft/aquire to quiet those who think him incapable.

Looking forward to the playoffs....we are the team that NOBODY wants to face in the post-season!

The bottom line is Driver and Jennings are going to be huge down the road and key to any success we have. If anything, the added target in Finley will help them all out.

When it gets down to that critical 4th quarter in the big games #80 doesn't have anything to worry about. Finley might be the butter but Driver is the bread.

It seems like everytime we need a big play there is #80 going over the middle for that hard catch.

Same here; Bedard on wssp earlier this week (Monday) basically said that Driver has a love/hate relationship with media. When he is in a giving mood, he'll be a great interview ala Fox after getting the turkey award thing. Then he also noted that Driver when mad will give you the cold shoulder like no one else, and how that has happened in the past before this as well. Although Bedard speculated it was because of not getting enough balls thrown his way against the Bears, it appears that speculation has blossomed into cold hard "fact". It isn't.

I also think that towards the bottom of the article says it all. Maybe Mike McCarthy is trying to find out what the limits to using Finley are to know for the playoffs and the future. If so, would it be hurt to tell the team?

Here's my gripe with the article: who is the third best receiver on this team? Forget positions, I'm talking overall talent. Finley, Jones, Jordy, Green, Jackson...? It should be obvious that on this team Finley is the third best receiver. That his versatility allows him to line up as a WR in King sets is a huge bonus.

James Jones may be the third WR, but he is not the third best receive on this team. Jones has nice hands, not a whole lot of yards after catch ability, and has shown the ability to get behind corners.

Finley has shown himself to be reliable in catching balls, has YAC ability, has speed, and can get behind defenders.

I'm sure any player would love to get more reps. The fact that MM has realized that his third best receiver is not a WR should not be taken for granted in hurting anyone's feelings.

PS: for the record, I don't think anyone is really hurt, just that this article again reflecting poor journalism. Like Z said earlier, the real story here is the emergence of Finley, not the "hate" others have for him (which I think doesn't exist, rather the article tries to posit that it does... and does a piss poor job at that).

The article was okay, but the headline was stupid. That often happens, because the headlines are written by an editor rather than the person who wrote the article. There was nothing in there to suggest that the receivers were puzzled by all of the throws to Finley. In fact, Jennings clearly explained why it is happening. It's all about matchups. When opposing teams begin taking steps to defend Finley, the game plan will tilt back toward the wide receivers. Ultimately, they will benefit from this, and I think they know it.

The one thing that was not mentioned is who ever is open is the one who gets the ball.
Of course if you are standing on the sidelines you won't be able to get open.

Exactly. The more Finley destroys teams, the more attention will be focused on him and less on either Driver or Jennings. What goes around, comes around. Jennings benefited from weak coverage due to the double on Driver, now that has flipped around, and most recently it's now Finley who's benefiting from the focus on our two top WR.

The ball carousel will come around to both of them in due time.

By looking at that chart it looks like each receiver takes turns getting the most targets lol. Against 49ers Finley got the most with 10, next game Driver got the most with 10 , next game Jennings got the most with 10, so based on this pattern it would be Finleys turn to get the most targets next game, and what do you know he did with 7 targets.

I think it is pretty hard for the other receivers to complain as long as we are winning games throwing to Finley. He just creates a huge match up problem for any team we play, and he lets us play with sets that are otherwise impossible with our other receivers. Someone above me said, "tough shit," and that's true. We have an incredible receiving group and so it's going to be tough for some of these guys when they don't see the ball so much. I also agree with the poster who says he thinks MM is playing with sets and targets in preparation for the playoffs. Anything we can do to win against a very talented play off group is good in my book. Go Finley.
