Well, let's see.

First, while I've been in his corner so far this season, I'm not giving Rodgers a pass on yesterday's game. For the first time since last year's Cows game, he lost his poise. I don't know why that was -- perhaps getting flushed out of the pocket or hit one too many times -- but I would very much hope I don't see it again. That second pick was just brutal, no excuse for it. That said, every QB has a bad game (or 2, or 3) in a season, so I'm not ready to call for his head. Assuming the injury is in the pain-management category, though, I DO expect to see him on the field next week -- he's the leader of the offense and he needs to man up, play hurt, and do well at it.

The OL looks... awful. Just awful. Do we now have to wait for them to gel again, now that Wells is back? I really hope not, we don't so much have the time for that.

Defense: I don't like the way the D line looks so far, but my issue w/ the D is the coordinator -- again. When we can't get pressure w/ the front four then it's time to blitz. We have the horses to get to the QB if we blitz, and if we don't start getting pressure we're going to have problems all year long.

Okay -- the thread title is "what went wrong", so the above is (at least some of) what I think went wrong. All that said, I'm not yet ready to hit the panic button. It's a weird, weird year -- Bears beat the Eagles, Washington wins in Dallas, the Chiefs beat Denver? Are you kidding me? I'm not happy with this team right now, in any phase of the game, but there's time to turn it around still, especially this year.

Step one: We must beat Atlanta.

Also the run game is a joke. It started like that last year and by the end of the season last year Grant was amazing and the OL was dominating, barely letting anyone touch Brett. Aaron can make any throw but with no run game and no time its going to be really hard for him or anyone to play well. Get those things fixed and maybe, and that's a big maybe, the packers could beat the seahawks if Rodgers misses time.

I agree with you totally. I won't disagree that the o-line isn't a problem.

The thing is, IMO things like holding are more reflective of poor pad level and fundamentals. With Taush and Cliffy, I expect them to get it corrected because they are vets, they've been here and done that. As for Wells, I'll give him a little leeway for it being his first game back. Regardless, Colledge and Spitz are making mistakes that can be corrected. I don't like the fact that they are making mistakes which they shouldn't be making, but I am not worried that the problem(s) can't be fixed.

I think it's a matter of when, not if, the fundamentals of the o-line are corrected. McCarthy accepted yesterday that it's his fault for not having the fundamentals translate into the game, so I expect him to get the problem solved quickly, as in this week.

I think actually that when the o-line opens some lanes, Grant misses them (and Jackson exploits them better). I think it's just a matter of Grant getting back in to a rhythm, and not pressing as much and being patient enough to get see the cutback lane and then let loose.

I think in the next couple of weeks we'll see Grant figure things out. He's too bright, and got too good coaching, to be plagued by inability to see the whole field and wait for the lanes to open up.

Also, I'm not sure where you got your news on Rodgers

Two things: first of all the post-game interview showed a non-concerned Rodgers. I think that spoke volumes, if Rodgers isn't too worried about it being serious then I'm not going to get worried.

Second: after the run where he injured himself, Rodgers got back up and continued playing. Kinda hard to do that if he's got a serious injury. Unlike, say Brady, who slammed his hand to the field in anger and was yelling and cursing, Rodgers wasn't doing anything of the sort.

I don't think he'll be missing any extended action for those reasons.
