Man, I[strike] was [/strike]would have been pissed off.

Even I'm not that old, lol

You might recall me ragging on Mercury Morris for his "not in the neighborhood" commentary regarding the 1972 undefeated season of the Dolphins vs. the Packers having gone undefeated many years prior, due to ties not counting at all in the NFL standings until 1972.

Here is my little piece of trivia, coupled with my observation that it just doesn't "look right", in the equity department.

In 1932, the Chicago Bears were the NFL champions.

Their record was 7 wins, 1 loss and 6 ties.

We finished second.

Our record was 10 wins 3 losses and 1 tie.

As far as I am concerned, we have won 13 NFL championships, not 12.

That's bullshit, and I'm pissed now. :thumbleft:

The great 1932 NFL hose job

Is it any wonder they changed the rule in 1933? I wasn't there, as I have said, but you have to believe that everyone saw the inequity of this, even in the teeth of probably some hatred of the Pack (had won the previous 3 times in a row--think Patriots, here, lol)

Before 1933, the Champion was the team with the highest winning percentage, thus the Bears, who had a winning percentage of .875, beat the Packers, who had a winning percentage of .769, for the Championship.

This whole post may be less than worthless to many/most, but I find the whole thing of some interest.

Interesting.

In 3 games with the Bears that year:

T 0-0
W 2-0
L 9-0

Three shootouts!

...And think about this one for just a moment...

If our 1929 season does not "count" as an undefeated season, because we were 12 wins, no losses and 1 tie....

Why the hell does the Bares season in 1932 count as regards them vs. us as NFL champions... Those shits had SIX ties.

Man, I'm polishin' up my green and gold goggles THIS am, lol.

Lol. Horrible that ties didn't count for a win and a loss, but for nothing. Especially in that era, where ties actually tended to happen quite a bit.

Do you know who got screwed hard in that era? The Pottsville Maroons.

Now that's a reason to get pissed.

One of the strongest opponents of a reversal has been the family of Charles Bidwill and his son Bill Bidwill, who have controlled the Cardinals since 1933, and began to claim the 1925 title as their very own.[6] Because the now-Arizona Cardinals franchise currently holds the NFL record for the longest championship drought (and second only to the Chicago Cubs within the four major professional sports leagues), having won only one title since 1925 (in 1947) and only five playoff games (three of those in one postseason) in sixty years, this futility has been attributed to a sports-related curse placed on the team by Pottsville.

How's that for a well deserved curse? Lol.

I wonder if we can find footage of the presser, play it over and over and somehow find it palatable to lay blame on the current GM.

77 years and we still can't let go of it all.. and here I thought we had laid it to rest. ;)

LOL.. okay.. enough humor for the day..
