with the injurys to Kampman and Chillar, im just wondering why Bishop and his frequent baptisms are not seeing more playing time.

Bishop's an ILB, Kampman's an OLB.

Chillar is pretty much back, I think, bumping Bishop down the depth chart one more spot.

I think that he got some time when Chillar was out. Not that much, of course, as he's still not a starter, but he wasn't that impressive. He wasn't talked about much, either, though, so I guess that that's a good thing for a back-up.

Inside we have Barnett and Hawk and have been playing a lot of base D since Chillar and Harris got injured.

Now Chillar's back we can use the Big Okie but I dont see Bishop getting ahead of Barnett or Hawk.

Bish is a core STer though and if he can cut down the mistakes will probably get some more snaps in base D. The coaches seem to like the reliability of Hawk.

Barnett and Hawk have also stepped up their play as of late. They're part of the reason why the defense is playing so well. I just don't see a spot for Bishop. I think he's a nice player, but I don't think he's the game changer that some think he might be.

Next year probably, especially if we do not retain Brandon Chillar. And with the amount of FAs we might have looming even if there is no extension to the current CBA, there will definitely be at least a few players who will probably have to be let go.

If Chillar goes then certainly Bishop will be promoted.

However I think it would be crazy to let one of our best (and most versatile) linebackers leave just as we switch to a 3-4.

Especially considering Kampman may also be gone.

Hopefully not anytime soon, as that would mean Hawk/Barnett were hurt or their play dropped big time or Bishop was cut and landed on another team.

sad things is they will probably want bishop back once hes on another team (and making killing sacks like most of us know he can).

Hawk and Barnett (especially Barnett) have played really well ever since the TB game. I don't see any reason Bishop should get more snaps (although I think he's a great player).

The whole defense has stepped it up since The Tampa game....IMHO it's because Capers has finally turned them loose.

Raji has really started to be the guy everyone was hoping he would be, Pickett is playing like he always does..solid, as are the other lineman and that just creates a domino effect with the rest of the defense.

Bishop is a fine st player and will get his chance at some point, no need to rush him in there, MO is the defense will just keep getting better is there are no more serious injuries.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
