Best way to keep the Vikings from going after our players. Send them to Buffalo.

These QB's are SUCH a big crapshoot.

That selection made perfect sense to me at the time.

Here was a guy that most scouting reports (under the proviso that we NEVER know the whole tale as fans) projected as "probably the most NFL ready".

In our scenario that acquisition was supremely logical.

Instead we got a deer in the headlights guy. He might overcome that, who knows?

Then we get this flyer in the 7th round (skipping over Colt Brennan in the 6th, damnit) and he turns out to be (imo) GANGBUSTERS.

I think Flynn could move this team. (Maybe not with THIS line, but a reasonably functioning one.)

I call it a wash. That is is still WAY better than most ever do in the arena, at that position.

I have always said that we have good QB karma in Green Bay, to an awesome degree.

I think karma is really the only good way to explain it.

Da Bares have bad QB karma. Does that explain it better?

Flynn is a great scrambler. He'd be ok behind a bad Oline. Relatively speaking of course.

According the JS blog, the Packers offered to sign Brohm to the active roster for the same terms that Buffalo offered.

Of course, I'd choose Buffalo were I Brohm, too, I think. I mean, he's never going to get anything other than preseason ops in GB.

I read where the Packers offered to sign him to the active roster.. but not match the 2 year contract the Bills offered.. my guess some type of poison pill was inserted.

Packers decline to match Bills' offer to Brohm, sign rookie QB Reilly
The Packers have signed QB Mike Reilly to the practice squad.

He's a 6-foot-3 rookie from Central Washington who spent the summer with Pittsburgh, which released him in the final roster cutdown. The Packers worked him out on Sept. 15.

Reilly takes the place of Brian Brohm, who on Wednesday signed a two-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, a source confirmed this morning.

The Packers offered to bring up Brohm to the 53-man roster but didn't match Buffalo's offer, which included a bonus. That might have sealed the decision for Brohm, a former second-round draft pick who surely wanted a fresh start as well after 1 1/2 disappointing years in Green Bay.

To make room for Brohm, the Bills waived No. 3 QB Gibran Hamdan.

Second-worst pick in Thompson's tenure as GM. I think we all know who #1 is. (Hint: He's on IR right now--again.) But as bad as he turned out to be, Brohm seemed like a safe pick at the time. A lot of people thought he was the most NFL-ready of that QB class. That '08 draft is not looking very good for the Packers.

The 08 draft will look much better depending on how Pat Lee comes on next season. I think the guy can really play he just needs to stay healthy. I don't think the 08 draft is that bad though because if you look at it not many of those guys were drafted to make an impact right away.

We ended up with Nelson, Finley, Sitton as guys who make a big impact on the team. IMO getting Flynn in the 7th kind of cancels out the Brohm pick, he seems like an adequate back up QB and not just a "good for a 7th rounder" QB.

I say GOOD RIDDANCE! Now maybe Ted Thompson will feel inclined to get a real backup QB for next year. Nah, nevermind on that...

Just because the Bills sign him, doesn't make Brohm a good player. It could be for purely the reason that it's a 2nd round draft pick and playing FAR below his potential talent. All you have to do is sign him off a practice squad, how much could you lose? It's a good chance for the Bills to take, but this is by no means their saviour (yet). All the best to him in any case.

I always root for every Packer or Raider draft pick to find success... Even when they may move on. I root for them, not sure why but I do.

Unless of course they find their success in Denver or Minny.

Then I fucking hate em!
