Ray Edwards launching hit on Stafford

OK Formo, by todays rules, this is a dirty play. When Lawrence Taylor did things like this we were awe struck. Well, everyone but Joe Theisenmann.

He deserved his penalty, but does the league give him a fine.

I was waiting for this.

Weird.. I dunno.

Even the head of referees said that was a bad call. I forget the guy's name.

Legal or illegal, I like the play. Ray jumps over the cut block and ends up showing off his athleticism. I like it.

Didn't even look like he hit Stafford's helmet to me.

I thought it was a great play myself but then again the NFL is turning into flag football, he will get a $5000 fine good thing he didn't try and hand the ref a $5 as he was flying thru the air, the fine would be bigger. I still really don't see the helmet to helmet hit looks more like his shoulder.

I thought it was a bad call when I saw it the first time. I still think it was a bad call.

If it weren't a Viking, I'd call it an amazing athletic play. (since it's a viking, of course, I won't). 🙂

I think they called it because he made no attempt make contact with anything other than his helmet. He keeps his arms back and leads with only his head. It was a great job avoiding the block but I can understand why it was called. Unfortunate for the Vikes.

Looked like a helluva play by Ray, the only downfall was him aiming his head down towards Stafford.

He aimed his head towards Stafford, but it looked like the side of Edward's helmet might've scratched the bottom side of Stafford's. That was just one hell of a play.

Good call, I guess. It's a rule thing. They don't want any judgement calls, so any helmet contact will automatically result in a penalty. Can't blame the refs here.
