Here they are

Jennings Slant
Jones deep TD (No WR on short route)

Interception (No WR on short route)

Run for 5
Run for 20
Run for 6
Jennings Slant (both WR on slants)
Run <2
Screen for @9
Run 1
incomplete throw away Driver short out, rest deep
Jennings 10 yard out (nobody short)
Run 2+
run TD Grant

Quick Pressure Rodgers runs for 7 (3 WR no short route)
Run -1.5
Inc Shortest route was a 6 yards out.

Driver 12 yards pass. 1 5 yard curl covered
Inc shortest route 7 yard out
Run 5
scramble for 1st (1 short route ?Curl covered)
Run 4
Run @13
Run 0
Driver TD (1 short, 3 LOS routes) Driver deep.

Run 2
Throw away (No short routes)
Draw 0

Incomplete 3 deep
Incomplete 5 short patters <10
Incomplete 2 short crossing 1 4 yards 1 6

Watching the WR as close as I can, we are not running the right plays. In the first half we ran slants twice, both time completed. Any time after that, the short routes are crosses. Which are not quick hitters and they are running them into coverage. I am understanding why we are having trouble with the WR getting open. Nothing needs to be covered short of 5 yards.

Didn't do bad on the run pass ratio overall and we were having success overall over 4 per carry.

Overall the run game was decent, the pass game did OK, the play calling for passes was not good. Far to often you see 2 or 3 WR streaking downfield for 10 before making any type of cut.

good detail. +1

Depressing statistics, tho.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I kept telling myself that we were lacking on running slants, but hadn't looked close until I rescanned the early pass plays. First half 17 pass plays 2 with slants.

I figured the sure fire way to lower the sack count. Run two slant patterns on each and every pass play. Hell line up 5 WR and run 4 damn slants. Even when the play breaks, Aaron will have more time to run, or throw the it away because they don't take 5 seconds to mature.

If all else fails, Rodgers can just not shower this week and none of the defenders will want to get near him. And if you're worrying about the O line suffering the same problem, don't. The D line will be closer to Rodgers than our O line all night.

Very interesting analysis PFWT, especially in light of MM's post-game comments.

Greg Badard pointed out how MM basically went to town on the execution of the game plan... impliying that the game plan called for short drop passes, and Aaron getting rid of the ball quickly. His comments about "being really intersted in watching the game film" and him "finding it hard to believe none [receivers] were open" tell me that MM realistic in planning with the deficiencies of this team.

Heck, his quote: "That's a reflection of coaching and playing. So it's something that's been coached, it's something that's been trained and it keeps showing up on Sundays" makes me think he is explicitly referring to Aaron's lack of ability to drop back and get the ball out. The "it's something that's been trained" bit seems really difficult to apply to the O-line...

Should make for an interesting week.

So the implication is that MM wants to do short quick slants and stuff to get the ball out quickly, but that's not what is taking place on the field?

That's what the comments would imply. Add to that Greg's (Jennings) comments where he's mentioned a few times that the QBs get away with a lot of things other players can't....

Perhaps Aaron deserves more blame than he has gotten...

Interesting, to say the least.

When asked about the sacks continuing to pile up, MM replied:

And the other part of it too, I thought he [Rodgers] had plenty of time to throw. I'm real curious to see the film because either they're doing a hell of a job covering us..There's time and time again that our receivers on crossing routes vs that coverage, I'd be curious to see what the film looks like.

McCarthy's right. More often than not he had plenty of time to throw. It surpasses belief that no one was open.

So then where does Rodgers' injury fit into all this? Last year too, A-Rod spoke about the benefits of having a week of practice, especially with regards to fundamentals .... perhaps his limited practice reps (he's been held for a few weeks due to his leg/shin/ankle (whatever it is) injury...
