For the love of ... well whatever you love. I don't care if Barry Sanders, in his prime was our RB. We'd still suck at running the ball. Until we can keep defenders OUT OF THE BACKFIELD, it isn't going to matter who the RB is.

Yes, Grant could be better, but he is CERTAINLY not the problem here. I think the middle of our O line sucks at run blocking AND our play calling doesn't mistify anyone. We need to run block successfully and mix up the formations from which we run. When the blocking is on, Grant does well. Could Jackson be any better? I dont know? He's getting knocked on his butt in the backfield as well.

Natural surfaces slowed Sanders down. Especially in December and January.

Okay is this really a battle you want to try? I mean, look at my sig, do you really think I'm going to bias in this one? lol

Anyhow, Sanders had some of his biggest games on natural surfaces. I can recall one against the Buccaneers where he had two 70+ runs and one of them HE RAN WITH ONLY ONE FREAKING SHOE!! 😛

I can't believe I'm commenting on not one, but two, RB threads this morning.

But I have to say I don't much care who we pick up/don't pick up at RB this year. Because I"m unconvinced that even if Green Bay had both Jim Brown (in his prime) AND Barry Sanders (in his) in its backfield right now, that they'd strike fear into any NFL defensive coordinator.

GB will have a respectable running game only after they find a way to fix their OL woes. Not before.

Sorry, my bias is going to have to call you out and say that Barry Sanders would be able to get 100 yard games with this line. Look at the line he had with the Lions with NO passing game to be a threat.

Yeah. But those Lions teams also had a better OL than ours right now. Substantially better.

Ok. Point conceded. I remembered good things about Lomas Brown and forgot that the rest of those Lion OLs were, at best servicable.

Maybe Sanders could have consistently run well with Barbre, et al in front of him in the Packer backfield.

And maybe Jim Brown could have.

But I'd be hard pressed to name five other RBs since Brown who could have.

And none of them are going to be available to the Packers this year.

Okay, so the OL may have been better, but you're telling me the passing game the Packers have doesn't help open up a running game for Barry Sanders?
