Hawk lead the team in tackles. He played with great pursuit and was as stout as he's been in along time. He made a few tackles on Jackson that saved what would've been much bigger gains.

Shit is not the right word to use for Hawk's performance.

he was slow and his stats are a lot more glowing than his play IMO.

He was one on one with Steven Jackson in space. That is a huge mismatch for Hawk. There isn't many backers that will make that play. If I'm an offensive coordinator, I try to get my backs in the flat one on one with guys like Hawk and Kampman. They don't stand much of a chance and neither would most linebackers. I do think he needs to work on taking better angles though. He's been terrible with that, but that doesn't mean he's played bad.

Hawk isn't flashy and he will never be worth the 5th overall pick in the draft, but he played well today. He wasn't overly aggressive and he did a nice job of filling the gaps when asked.

Chillar was smoked for ONE TD, not two. The second TD was a excellent throw and the coverage was good. No one could have done better on the coverage. Watch the replays.

First off i disagree with people that think Hawk hasn't been doing very well this whole season just because he doesn't have huge stats... he's the LBer that is doing the dirty work. Well Kampman is doing it too in nickle.

As far as Hawk play against the Rams.... it was pretty dang bad.... look I don't care about stats because stats can be very misleading. But Hawk played react football when the system is focused on attack football.......

Hawk got a lot of tackles but most of them seemed down field after a good play by the offense.

Also the OL and DL need to pick it up and do much much better.

At one point if you took away Grants longest run he was averaging less than 1.7 yards per touch and with the longest only had 2.5 yards pre touch. That's pretty dang bad.

I love Kuhn in the red zone.... but honestly I hope we get Hall back... I just think he's a much better FB outside the red zone than Kuhn.

Also the team doesn't have a power back... Wynn could be one but he's just doing plain bad.... put Kuhn ( a good college RB ) back at RB for some snaps when you need a power RB.

And the defense had trouble stopping the run.... I wonder how they'll do against the Vikings.

I was a bit critical of some of the play by GB today. I thought I would point out what I liked about them today:

The turnovers.

The 3 pass plays of 50 + yards obviously.

Nelson's grab as he went to the ground in the 3rd Q.

The end around to Driver with 6:12 left in the 4th after running Grant, Wynn, or Rodgers scrambles all the rest of the quarter (8 plays)
QB draw up the middle. Outstanding call with the 3-4 WR spreading out the defense. Loved that one.

Rodgers' scrambles for 1st downs. If he can't get the 1st down with his arm, it is nice to have a QB who can get it with his legs.

25 yards in 5 plays by Grant to run out the clock. When the other team knows you are going to run the ball and they can't stop you, that is exciting.
Grant- 50 yards in the 4th quarter on 11 carries. (add in another 14 yards on 2 carries at the end of the 3rd Q that began a GB drive.)

Jackson may have had 117 yards on 27 carries but he was shut down 13 times for a total of 10 yards.

Now they need to work on the other 14 times he had the ball.

The Packers are not where they need to be, but they made a bunch of great plays today and won the game going away. I'm going to enjoy the win for a day or two before moving on.

Steven Jackson got 117 yards, but no big breakaways and no TD's. If the Packers can hold Adrian Peterson to a similar performance next week, the field will tilt in their favor.

I'm not getting the Hawk hate. I thought he played well today. I was also encouraged by the play of our safeties. I did not see any glaring mistakes by them, although possibly they should've helped on those two TD catches. I'm not sure why Dom Capers would have an LB chasing a receiver into the end zone in one-on-one coverage. Kudos to the Rams for exploiting that idiotic coverage scheme twice. But it should never have happened a second time.

Aaron Rodgers played very well except for some inaccurate throws, which have plagued him all season. Even on some balls that are caught, the receivers are having to break stride. And the miss on what would've been an early TD to Driver was just a horrible, horrible throw. His scrambling was awesome, though, and more importantly, he looks like a real field general out there.

How did Woody get a B? I didn't see the game, but one INT and 2nd on the team with 6 tackles?

"Rockmolder" wrote:

He appeared to be overruning some plays. Or it's just one that's imprinted in my mind. Don't know if that was totally his fault, or that the LB never came to take the underneath away, but he looked somewhat susceptible to corner routes.

That said, he did have a pretty good int and was there often enough to stop Jackson. If only he could blitz some more. A B for him is about correct, I think. Any other CB would've gotten an A, but we have high standards for (one of the) best players on the team.

"zombieslayer" wrote:

One of the best players on the team? How modest.

Let's be real - he's one of the best players in the League. 3 games. 3 INTs. 1 TD. 18 tackles (at the CB position which is not known for high numbers of tackles). He's having not only a Pro Bowl season so far, he's heading for All-Pro.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
