That is a huge loss for Chicago, their defense needs him.

Whole season because of a wrist? Can't they use a cast or splinter and play?

My thoughts exactly...i wouldn't want to see Urlacher with a club cast on his hand that would be a weapon on a loose cannon.

A dislocated wrist is much worse than a broken wrist. There's ligament damage involved.

That would make a ton of sense with Marinelli there.. Brooks can still play this game.

Urlacher is a fine player, but vastly over valued.

I know what you wrote, but that defense missed Brian. All of a sudden we had what looked like a running game, for example. We all (every fan of every team) plus our own coaches--like to think it is all "on us" to execute or not execute--as the case may be... Of course that is true, but how can we sit here and at least acknowledge our own difficulties last year when certain key players went down for us..and the resulting (imo-exponential) impact it had... And not at the same time what seemed reasonably obvious to me that Da Bearce looked different--and not in any good way---when Urlacher got scraped off.

I say his loss was MAJOR. His "rating" is not even very relevant. His impact on that defense is...or was...to me...last eve, although I admit I was up to two whole beers plus two whole airline bottles of booze at or around that time.

Will it hurt them.. absolutely, he is a fine player.

But a lot of the journalist gumshoes treat him as a "god" at linebacker.. I would be willing to say he isn't even the best in the division at this point and time.

Force him to take on blockers and he struggles.. he should give a portion of his salary to the tackles.. Briggs on the hand.. complete game.

Well Brian.. on a positive note, you have more time to work on your texting skills.... maybe Paris is available yet.

Seriously, I hope he has a quick and throughout recovery..

Yes they are going to missed him, first he is the captain of that defence and is the man in charge to call the plays (he only missed seven games in his career). I just saw a show that when Urlacher is not on the field the defence give more yards on the running game. That means the teams don't have to worry to take him account on their game plan.

Wow that's a massive loss, does that mean Hillenmayer is back in their starting line-up (I know he played a lot last night, but I wasn't paying that much attention to the Bears' personnel.)

Like said, they're going to miss him. If they do pursuit Derrick Brooks, though, this might get scary.

I don't want to say that Brooks is the better overall linebacker, but even at his age, he could shut down Finley on one play and tackle Grant for a loss on the next. The guy has some gas left in the tank.

Even though he is a Bear I respect his intensity and play. Plus he seems fairly intelligent. (unlike Hester)
I hope he heals well and is back in form next season.

This was supposed to be the comeback year for Urlacher too. That was all the hype during training camps here in Chicago was how Urlacher looked like he was in shape and back to his old playing speed again.

It always sucks seeing a key player for a team to go down. Sucks for the team and for the NFL. Unfortunately, thats the risk you take playing a vicious game and have to love every minute of it.

What I have seen is a lot of people (not on here) downplay Urlacher for sitting out because of a dislocated wrist. Some people just don't get it and are so quick to jump on someone's back, not knowing the severity of something. "Wrap it up...its just dislocated explicit"

It is so bothersome to see, especially since some of the people I KNOW have said it and have never played a down of football in their life.

Whew, end rant. I hope Urlacher has a quick recovery. He is a great player and the Bears defense WILL struggle without him.
Did anyone catch how much we actually started running up the middle when Urlacher was out?
