That you know what a team is capable of? I've heard people say week 4, I've heard people say week 6, and I realize that there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer... But I still find this interesting. To make the question a bit easier, I will rephrase...

Barring significant lineup changes due to injury/other reasons, when do you think that we will know what this year's Packers are capable of? When will we know their strengths, weaknesses, how well people work against different offenses with the 3-4?

I'd say by week 3 or 4 we should start to get an idea, but that by week 6 we should pretty much know who this team is.

You just never know. There have been seasons when the Packers started 1-4, and then ended up making the playoffs at 10-6.

Then we have last year when we were 4-3 going into the bye week, fresh off a blow out win against the Colts. After that things went south.

There are too many factors but I would say that if by week 6 you dont have a couple of wins it will be hard to recover.

Its too early to say anything until they clinch a spot. Just look at the Jets last year.

When we went 13-3, I fully knew what we were capable of when we beat the Chargers.. that was what? Wk 5? I forget.. That game convinced me that we were for real and by then you knew what they're capabilities were.
This year, hard to say.. I'm guessing by wk6 we'll have a good understanding of our strengths/weaknesses an where we are as a team. Maybe earlier if we're THAT good, but you never know.

This year the Packers may have a fair idea of how good they are by week 4. When the Packers play the Vikings there's every chance that the two teams will be 3-0 coming into the game, and the winner of that game would have a leg-up on the race for the NFC North.

My barometer is usually Thanksgiving week, that's when I get a feeling all is lost, there's hope, or kick back until then playoffs start.

FYI, the Pack beat San Diego in week 3 of that year.

And while I was also ecstatic about the win, it didn't prove to me Green Bay was for real. It DID, however, tell me we were a big step up from the 8-8 team the previous year.
