Can't argue with the list too much.

Eli did burn us big time in the Giants game in '07. He placed the ball extremely well for Plaxico to catch and produce. Eli should have won the MVP for his post season performance, in my opinion. Probably one of the greatest post season QB performances of all time, considering the outcome.

not the BEST, not even one of the best in my opinion, i can think of atleast 5 better post season performances, including sb's
these will not be in order at all:
1.steelers-cards sb,steelers make an outstanding drive to tie it up
2.cards-falcons, wildcard an outstanding defense to shutdown a top rb (michael turner)
3."the sweep" jerry kramers speed and agility at HIS size
4.the ice bowl qb sneak, a milestone in football
5.raiders-patriots championship game, even though the penalty at the end was cheap i have to admit that the pats stayed solid and held the outstanding raider team back

how is big ben not ahead of brees or rivers?

because he knows how to win the big games i would guess and look at his success. He has 2 super bowl wins already in his short career granted he wasn't asked to do a whole lot but when he has had to do it he proved he can get it done.

I'm just wondering if the people calling Dilfer a dumbass if they would be calling him awesome if he had Rodgers in the top 5 ?

By the first quote, it comes off as Ben is behind Rivers and Brees? I'd agree with that because Ben is not a great QB. I'd put Brees above both of them. Ben doesn't WIN games, he simply does not LOSE them and his defense and running game WIN the games. Although he did VERY well in the Super Bowl, very well.

And back to the last line, if anyone were to put Rodgers in a top five QB's of the NFL, it's a little crazy. He's played one season. It's almost as foolish as thinking Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco are in the top five after one season.

not trying to bait Zero just funny how if someone don't rank the packer players high they don't know what they are talking about, but yet if someone gives them high grades then they are great at analyzing .

How is it funny? It's HUMAN NATURE. Just like most parents think their kids are cuter than others. Just like one Mustang owner thinks his mustang is better than someone else's. It's really not funny, its expected and borderline normal.

I think it's not so much that its Packers players though, I think its more susceptible to criticism because someone in a higher position to have their opinion read by others, differs from their own.

For instance, I think Jennings is a top 10 WR. Shawn does not. Therefore I think Shawn is on crack. Why? Because he has a different perception of Jennings talent than myself. (j/k Shawn)

Now if Shawn thought Jennings was a top 10 WR I'd have to Shawn is a smart man. Why? Because he agrees with me.

Going a bit deeper. If you think someone is very talented and someone else doesn't, how can you honestly say they are right without adjusting your own perception?

Person A - Rodgers is top 3 QB.
Person B - Rodgers is top 10 QB at best.

Person A is then expected to remove his high rank because Person B has Rodgers lower? That's weak. You don't change your perception because someone else has one that is different. You post facts and reasons why you feel your placement in the rank is merited.

Therefore, of course you're going to think whomever has someone ranked different than you do in your mind as ... well ... crap and uneducated or what not.

So, really, I don't think its funny. I think its expected and normal. šŸ™‚

ok then, the cardinals postseason performance, kurt warner specifically-the old washed up no good qb made it to the sb and gave the steelers a run for their money in the end
the eagles, brian westbrook said it all
everyone knew they werent making it to the conference round and they did, again a great team postseason performance

I think this is an above average analysis by Trent Dilfer. Just because the man was an average quarterback himself does not discredit this analysis whatsoever!

In my opinion, I think he has Hasselbeck at the wrong level. I don't consider him a 'star' level performer. However, looking through the list he created, I wouldn't be able to bring a quarterback up to that star spot because below that is a pretty accurate analysis.

Another thing is Big Ben > Rivers. Drew Brees is a top quarterback, no doubt in my mind.

Brees
Roethlisberger
Rivers

Great read and thank you for posting it.

Exactly. I would call Rivers a top 5 QB, right after Brady, Manning and Brees. Big Ben, on the other hand, would be a top 15 QB, I think. Can't be arsed to make an actual list right now, but you get my point.

I find statements like 'he knows how to win games' a bunch of bogus. Obviously, he's a very decent QB, but usually, it's the defense and/or running game that wins it for them.

That said, he does tend to show up when he's called upon. He can be a really clutch player. He just doesn't play good enough consistently for me to be better than Rivers. Or Rodgers, for that matter.

As much as I love Peyton, he shouldn't be ahead of Brady at this point. There is no logical explanation for that.
