I like our starters, but injuries are a part of the game. Our depth on the Dline and secondary and quality back-up QB concern me. I like Flynn, but do not think he can step in at this point and lead this team if rodgers goes down. Dline and secondary are the same way. And please cut ties with Harrell, the dude has been a waste and Ted Thompson doesn't want to look bad, so we stash him on the IR.

really? you think he puts him on IR to avoid looking bad? You think putting Harrell on IR over and over makes Thompson look better than if he were to release Harrell? I think Thompson genuinely cares very, very (VERY!) little about "how he looks".

If Thompson cut Harrell, I really believe some team would pick him and put him on their IR list, he is still young (25 years) and was our 1st round pick, If the doctors are saying that he can come back and be an asset. I guess we can still carried him one more year.

What is with people getting so butthurt about Harrell? It's like they are hoping that his back injury ends his career. Please explain to me how Ted Thompson is hurting the team 1 bit by putting Harrell on the IR and attempting to rehab his back problems?

It's funny how you are bitching about wanting to drop a 1st round pick who looked good this offseason when he was healthy in a post that's complaining about depth.

Im not worried at all about the depth of this team, we are young and have great depth at every position. I see atleast a 14 win season this year and a super bowl win.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Not anymore worried about depth than any other year. I don't really look at how they did during preseason, because when you have 11 backups playing they are not going to look as good as if it was 1 backup and 10 starters. Just look at the last preseason game. Brohm was playing with better talent, and he looked much better than he had.

Sure if we and up with 4 starters of the starting defense out again, we maybe in trouble again, but that is football. The more injuries that pile up, the worse the performance is going to be. I am hoping that none of the backups ever have to play because of injury, as unlikely as that is. But most of them are capable of playing when surrounded by the other starters.

QB is the biggest concern, as it is with everyteam. I have faith that our WR corp and RB will help him out if it comes to it.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I really liked this post until you made the comment about Harrell. He isnt taking up a roster spot on IR and is getting paid almost exactly the same as if we had cut him. What is to lose about putting him on IR. As for Ted Thompson looking bad the man just cut his 2nd round pick from last year. He doesnt give a shit what people think about him compared to most GMs.

As for depth I think we're a little thin at safety. If Bigby fails to click (I hope he does) we have stiff-hips Rouse coming off injury and new boy Martin to fill in.
At LT if Clifton goes down it's Colledge and then no one.
For me DL seems ok, four guys who could start, Wynn has upside and should develop and Monty is average (I would prefer Kevin Carter there).
QB is no different from last year, in fact its better because Flynn is improved. There are tons of retreads available if and when we want them.

I think that Giacomini could play some LT as well, but I get your point. This is my biggest concern, also. Of course we can't expect our team to be just as good when half the team is injured, but I would've liked a little more security along the lines and at safety. I'm fine with our QB situation. Maybe sign Joey Harrington and we'll be totally fine.

Signing Vonnie Holliday, trading one of our LBs for a OT. Maybe resign Tauscher. That would've shored up some depth issues quite well.

What excites me about this years squad is that we have 2 quality tight ends. I hope we see the 2 TE sets of years past went we run into a blitz heavy team. This formation alone can take the heat off of Aaron allowing us to pick apart any defense with short quick hitting plays.
