I have no problem with optimism; I just find reporters' lack of conviction or backbone annoying. They're so shortsighted. They simply go along with whatever their most recent impression is, without giving much stock to long-term trends. I personally don't think the Packers are quite as good as some of those writers think, and I certainly don't think they're as bad as Kirwan thinks.

Oh, and don't forget...the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason last year. :microwave:

Preferably the former in the latter.

Media hacks are pathological bandwagon jumpers. The moment the Packers have a mediocre performance or suffer a loss, they'll be predicting doom and gloom with the same alacrity they now proclaim them a juggernaut.

I could see Green Bay losing to Chicago in week one and still coming away with a successful season and maybe even better than the Bears. Of course if they do lose, Packer fans will have to read all the preseason means nothing comments from the media. It's always a what have you done lately type of attitude with people.

We will not lose to the Bears. They don't have the pass defense to stay with our guys. Won't happen. Rodgers will light those guys up.

No replacement of quality for Brown, no safeties, and marginal cover CB's.

I sense another " these guys don't belong on the same field as us" statement made.

I think we are going to seriously kick their tails.

Don Banks is obsessed with the Packers. Check out today's article predicting each division:

NFC North

First place: Green Bay (12-4) -- I've got a feeling about these Packers, especially when I survey the rest of a wide-open NFC field and try to divine if there's an out-of-nowhere team with a legitimate shot to represent the conference in Miami next February. Green Bay is my NFC Super Bowl pick, and last year's dismal 6-10 finish is but a memory now that Aaron Rodgers looks like a man playing possessed and the Packers' new-look 3-4 defense appears ready to work as planned from day one.

You beat me to posting that. It is exciting to read all these positive predictions, but I'm trying not to get too big headed about it. I want to see our defense kick ass in real games first. I do agree with warhawk though and feel we will handily beat the Bears. I can't believe Peter King picked them to win the NFC out of all teams in the conference.

Don Banks moved to Wisconsin earlier this year, and now he's predicting the Packers to go to the Super Bowl. Coincidence?

no really though. i'm excited as hell for this first game and i'm glad it's against a (supposedly) good team and an old classic rivalry game at that. i think if we dominate this Bears game, people will finally stfu about their "it's just preseason" attitude and just silently watch as the Pack shows up the world. at least, i fecking hope. two reasons why i fecking hope:

1) i want the Pack to go all the way, duh.

2) i'm meeting my gf's family for the first time next sunday and don't want to be jumping, shouting and cursing at the tv. bad first impression. i've already given the gf permission to slap me or throw water in my face in such a scenario.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I have 3 things to say:

#1 I want the pack to crush the bears
#2 yes I want the pack at the big game
#3 I would rather not so many peeps get all hyper about the pack cuz the bookies odds wont jump as much then.

So lets win alot of games and then kind of sneak into the superbowl and take the prize home 😉

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
