you guys will just call me a Favre fister

Can you imagine what we call you in our minds but never write? :thumbleft:

All I saw was replays, but he looked adequate but a lot slower than I remember. He is still an improvement over what they had at quarterback.

I thought he looked good, and their offense looked better than it has - I was shocked that Chilly actually threw a couple Wildcat looks in there - must have picked them up from some other coach.

But.

1. He is not mobile at this point. At all. Much less so than when he played in Green Bay. He looks like Kosar out there at this point.

2. He went down like a rag doll if an opposing player so much as tapped him. I really hope that's an attempt not to get hurt, though his low shot on that safety would suggest he's not too worried about that. All I know is that he never went down that easy w/ the Pack (Strahan's record aside).

3. He took some pretty wicked shots - they need to work on protecting him, because it's pretty clear that opposing defenses are looking to be the guys who put him on the shelf. Max protect, whatever it takes - he's going to get beat all to hell out there.

I think he'll improve once he rounds into some sort of shape, but this is clearly a different Favre - that's not necessarily a bad thing for the Vikes, though, assuming he recognizes his limits and plays within them.

Overall, I think he looked good. Didn't scare me, though - that's what Peterson is for (criminy, he's just a beast).

This is the single biggest concern I have for Brett's health.. his legs aren't under him yet (imagine that, skipping camp and all) and they are going to have protection break downs.

I hate to say it, but I think his "ironman" streak ends this season.. either that or the Vikings as a team will suffer for it..

On a side note.. Minnesota papers are saying TJ is the odd man out at QB for the Vikes.. "schism" or not.. the Vikes are punting on the subject. 😉

Agreed. Part of conditioning is getting your body in shape to handle the day-to-day abuse that comes with playing football. It's not just getting your arm in shape or whatever, it's getting your overall conditioning level up to a point where the bumps and bruises aren't so bad as they'd normally be. He's had NONE of that this year, and that kickass O line isn't keeping him very clean thus far. He could easily end up hurt, and then what do they do? If I'm TJack I'd tell 'em to go spit if they asked me to step in.

Did anyone else hear the cut by Chris Carter at halftime about the miss to Harvin in the endzone?

Those high school WR down in Mississippi must be faster than Harvin.

Cracked me up at the time.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Pretty much the same feeling everyone else has, he was good and efficient. Someone mentioned the deep throw that was praised as giving his receiver a chance to make a play and reading the coverage right. Man that pissed me off. Safety help was there and if that ball hangs a split second longer it's picked off and Favre would have been blasted for throwing one up. God I hate announcers. Anyway, I think they're very beatable for us this year.

Considering this offense has only been together for what? 13 days.. Favre was more than adequate. Should of had that TD to Percy, but like the announcers said.. Percy is a rookie, and he looked it (caught a ball just short of the first down, didn't have the 'go get the ball' mentality on that end zone ball, etc).

I'm not worried about Favre getting better with this offense. I'm more worried about HBs missing their blocks on all out blitzes. The one sack that Favre had, AP made wrong reads and went to the outside to help the T block and left the inside blitzer go untouched. Hopefully he gets that cleared up.

Not every team is going to blitz the Vikings that much during the season, either. So, as far as I'm concerned.. They just need to continue working on their chemistry.

Zero2Cool (41m) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (1h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (15h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (15h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
