Dimebag Darrell is the greatest guitarist of all time. And that's not over glorifying him just because he's dead, just listen to the solos on Floods and Domination. Especially Floods. That's the greatest guitar solo of all time.

I saw Down open for metallica in ohio last november. Didn't realize who they were until afterward though :(

I like the 'vulgar display of power' and 'cowboys from hell' albums, but the others are a bit too much screaming for me. I'm not opposed to some screaming in songs, but i really don't like songs that are prodominantly screaming (ie lamb of god)

Do they have Pantera raids at these concerts?

They weren't out very long, so they just played a few songs and introduced themselves.

I actually missed some of it because i wanted to get some water before Met. started

Yeah, I think Cowboys From Hell is a real masterpiece, Vulgar is maybe a little to heavy for my taste, but still a great classic album. Far Beyond Driven and Great Southern Trendkill are over the line really, but they both have a couple of great songs nevertheless (Floods, I'm Broken for example). I don't own the last album.

Down is a pretty great band too, NOLA is one of the best albums of the nineties I like it better than any of the Pantera albums.

But unlike Metallica, they have a part of their past that they refused to acknowledge....like I Am The Night. I guess they considered only music put out after Anselmo joined. But I'm splitting hairs, their lack of acknowledgement DOES NOT take away from the fact that they were one of the best metal bands ever...IMO of course.

I will take this type of "old" school metal over the crap that seems to being pumped out there today.. either that or I am just feeling my ago and refuse to let go of the era.. lol.

And yes.. I have a couple CD's burned that are nothing but 80's Metal... before "some" went mainstream..

You're a singer, so it makes sense. I'm a drummer, so give me some Vinny Paul.

Phil always had a nice mix of clean vocals with the harsh. Another reason I was sold on Pantera.

Oh, and REAL music...well, i guess my REAL music would be stuff with difficult drum beats behind it as opposed to the "boom chick boom chick" stuff you find in genre's such as country.
