Once he gets a bit older he'll realise that the team is more important then individual players.

12 year old boys do a lot of dumb things because of energy. 18 - 25 year old men do a lot of dumb things because of testosterone. Middle age guys do dumb things to regain their youth. And old guys like 93 and Dfoster just shake their heads and chew all of us out. Let him go through his progressions or just beat him now and straighten him out.

Told my little boy (12) yesterday that Brett Favre had signed with the Vikings. I knew he loved Favre, but I was startled at the emotion in his reaction. He really started cheering, whooping it up big time, and said he hoped they beat the Packers!

Needless to say, I was shocked. I've been a Packers fan since the early 60s, suffered through the 70s & 80s, then enjoyed the success during the Favre years. There's no way for even a moment that I'd contemplate saying "I hope Brett and the Vikings beat the Packers!"

When I asked, he said he was still a Packers fan. But then he went on a rant (which is EXTREMELY rare with this guy, so I know this is something that's been on his mind) about how the Packers shouldn't have traded him to another team last year, hadn't treated him right etc.

We had a discussion about if you could call yourself a fan if you were rooting for another team to beat them, and he said it was just for 2 games, he'd root for the Packers during all the rest of the games!

I hadn't thought about it, but until last year, the only quarterback he's ever known for the Packers was Brett. So I'm cutting him a little slack, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch the Packers-Vikings games if my boy is going to be next to me cheering the bad plays and booing the good plays.

Our little boy has started to growl at us whenever we hum the "Barney" theme around him... ::twisted:

Was discussing the Packers preseason with my little boy, and mentioned that Rodgers had taken the team to touchdowns on 5 of 6 drives so far this preseason. He commented that he thought Rodgers was a good replacement for Brett. I'll have to get him a Rodgers jersey--the only one he's ever had/wanted was a #4.

He may end up rooting for the Pack when they play the Vikings, but I can't see him rooting against Brett--he'll want him to have a good day in any case.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
