I thought this should be over here too since this is the final known landing spot for Montana Bob. I will put all the entries together.

A few years back on the (insert the thanks for nothing website here), there used to be a member named Montana Bob. He held a Limerick contest one year and I won. I have passed on the tradition ever since.

I have already forgotten the winning limerick that started this whole thing out, but what I do remember is the fantastic prize package I got from Bob. It was all local products from Montana. Barbeque sauce, a grizzlies cap, and some coffee were among the many local items in my carefully packed UPS box.

The winner was obligated to continue the tradition the following season.

The next year I kept my word and held a limerick contest. The winner turned out to be some dumbass from California. I mailed the dude a Brewers cap, some local coffee, a Packer mug, and topped it off with a framed piece of Packers stock. Much do my disappointment the loser never confirmed he received the package nor sent a follow up email. He simple disappeared.

It is with this in mind I launch the (site removed to keep Zero calm) contest 2009.

The rules are simple: The best Limerick wins a prize package from the heart of Wisconsin.

If you are unfamiliar with Limericks, please refer to the finer points here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_ (poetry)

I am pretty strict on the grading, so take some time to put in a well thought out effort. The contest ends the second the ball is kicked off in the Packers first regular season game.

This years subject: Ted Thompson

As always, I submit my entry here. Leave yours below.

Theres an Oiler from Atlanta Texas
Whos a whiz at the Os and the Xs
He drafts only the cream
And the chosen they scream
Its a dream to have Teddy select us

Just in case anyone wants to know...

Limerick format, stolen off another site:

Limericks are less about the syllables but are more about the rhyme.

Hickory, Dickory Dock,
A mouse ran up the clock,
The Clock struck One,
The mouse fell down,
Hickory Dickory Dock.

The first, second, and last lines all rhyme, while the third and fourth lines rhyme themselves. A-A-B-B-A

A There was an old man with a beard,
A Who said, 'It is just as I feared!
B Two owls and a hen,
B Four larks and a wren,
A Have all built their nests in my beard!'

These two poems do not have the same number of syllables, but they are both limericks because of their rhyme pattern. Typically, limericks have three stressed syllables altogether in the first, second, and last lines, and two stressed syllables in the third and fourth.

Some whine Packin milquetoast,
And Deserves the big fan roast,

Some say "They are brass; Move on- son.

And the other got away with only minor injuries

Ted Thompson haiku.

_____

To watch the snow fall,

He stands in a box.

Amongst the fools, and others.

_____

My Montana Bob (and others) limerick

There once was a Colonel Schmuckatelli
Reflectin' on duty sometimes smelly
Foster a pain in his ass
that damn McDonald's pass
UFO's, Bob raftin, and that Chevy

Just for old-times sake--I dug up the UFO story

Nick was a Packer who liked to tweet,
He gives to the community and I think that is neat.

One time he thought he had farted,
turned out he had actually sharted .

This limerick will be tough to beat.

"There once was a GM named Ted,
Whose draft picks we all came to dread.
He said with a grin,
As he picked again and again,
'they're my picks, so Ha! I'm ahead."
