I seen the "Nick Barnett will be" on the list.. first thought was Traded....

I think there might be a market for Nick if he can show he is recovered fully..

You see flaws too? My biggest beef against Barnett other than the Samuri thing, is that he seems to blow too many big play opportunities.

I love the Samurai thing. Most people are down on Barnett right now, but you will see. He's gonna be a baller this year.

Color me a guy that has been down on Nick in the middle for a couple of years.. he racks up the tackles but the man is a liability at the point of attack.. in other words he can't fight off or shed a block effectively..

IMO.. Nick is an outside backer with good to great speed and instincts.. he just doesn't handle traffic very well.

I like the guy, but I have stated it several times since we made the announcement that we are going to the 3-4... I have a hard time seeing where Nick fits.. he isn't very good at pass rushing because he doesn't use his hands well.. the same reason he has trouble fighting off blocks...

I think Barnett will be fine, his issue sometimes is that he is too overaggressive. Our defense will be an aggressive style of defense. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the Pro Bowl sometime in the next 2-3 years.

I hope Barnett surprises the hell out of me.. but I won't be surprised either if we have someone else starting ahead of him either.. Bishop comes to mind in the middle...

Why are you assuming that he'll be that bad in the 3-4? Because he's undersized? Because he was undersized as a 4-3 MLB to me as well. He had nothing but pro-bowl-worthy seasons, though.

I have to say that he was having quite a down season last year, but I also think that he'll come back strong and that he and Hawk might even eachother out quite nicely as ILBs. Most of all, I think that he might excell in Capers' scheme, since I've been quite impressed with how he can get to the QB when he doens't have to take on to many O-linemen.

Anyway, as for the show, is this streaming anywhere as well? Would love to hear/see this.

EDIT: Was browsing through his twitter-pics and found this. Quite a defensive playbook.

Crap! Just came back to work from my break to read this...could have set up my DVR.

I am interested to see how Nick Barnett works in the 3-4 system. Again, we are not running the 3-4 100% of the time so there is no need to write him off. I was hoping that he would bump to OLB when we switched into the 3-4 just because of his speed and inability to get off the inside blocks.

I have made this comparison before but I will do it again. ;)

Size shouldn't be an issue, because he is basically the same size as a pretty good ILB in Pittsburgh, James Farrior.

Nick Barnett: 6 ft 2 in, 236
James Farrior: 6 ft 2 in, 243

Nick did a very nice job dealing with the Favre questions. He gave a truthful and honest answer. He notices the fan's perspective and the player's perspective.

He was very upbeat. He seems ready to "rock and roll". I think he will fight HARD for his job this season! The interview got my football blood boiling!

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
