I am considering buying one and I have a few questions.

Will my PC headset (USB) work with it?

I am also considering buying a HDTV, and was wondering if I will need to purchase a differnt cable, or will the component cable it comes with work?

I don't think that your USB headset will work. The headset you get with your Xbox 360 has a 2.5 mm (?) plug. You plug it into your controller, not into your Xbox. I haven't tried it myself, but I've read it quite often. Apparently, the Xbox doesn't even recognize an USB headset.

As for the cable. I know that the more expensive sets come with a HD cable. I have to admit that I don't totally know what you're referring to, but their site has a nice comparison as to what is included in the package.

Oh, and one more thing, you're going to need 500 MB or something to play online, due to an Xbox Live update. That pretty much means that you won't be able to play online with the arcade set. I had to buy a 60 GB HD later on.

Your USB headset won't work with it. You need a mini (2.5mm) jack to connect to the bottom of the controller.

The component cables will be fine. An HDMI cord really is not needed. Both will give you an HD picture. I see absolutely no difference in picture quality when plugging in either cords.

Next step...if you're willing to purchase more...is the surround sound system. Makes the XBox360 that much more enjoyable

hahah millimeters are now Mike McCarthy's lol.

The reason why normal USB devices won't work is because there's no way to install the drivers. That's why you need to by the $100 "XBOX" wireless adapter instead of using a cheaper linksys one. A bit annoying...

Today my XBox360 bit the big one, i got the 3 red rings of death but good thing i looked online and now i have to send it back to them and i will get a replacement for free. So if you have a 360 make sure you go online and register it to cover your butt for the next 3 years.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

It comes with component cables so you are good to go. However, I'd double check because some (the Arcade) versions only have RCA. I think.

I'd go with HDMI, HUGE difference, major improvement on sound and video quality.

I really never saw any difference between HDMI and component cords. I know both are much better than RCAs in terms of video and sound quality.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
