i just cant believe last year we had a 5 yard average running back and didnt start him.

Just saying the back-up RBs often have better yard averages than the starters because defenses are assuming the offense is more likely to run with the starter.....

That said I do think Jackson should of got a heck lot more reps when Grant was injured.

I'm not sure why the front office would of pushed for it since his pay day was based on what he did on the field... if I was the front office I'd want to let him heal to get him healthy and make sure he couldn't reach the top $$$ (if he wasn't fully healthy).

my issues is most of the time when I saw jackson run - he looked to be the much better back - stronger run and ability to cut a bit; grants the type of guy that will run real fast straight and wont cut much and then get held up once he meets the first resistance (more relied upon a goodline).

I don't disagree with that... there was a stat post a little while ago how Grant was one of the last in broken the first tackle last year. BUT in 2007 he got a from the first guy a lot.

It's just which Grant we'll see this year and which Wynn..... and will the other guys step up.

( Not saying Wynn is better than the others just saying they he has a lazy and cocky side that seems to have slowed him up a lot. )

Umm, Brandon Jackson only had 48 carries for 248 yards with a long of 32 and 1 TD.

Implying that he should have started based on that is a tad foolish.

Which do you feel deserves starting?
Player A - 5.5 yards a carry after 48 carries.
Player B - 5.1 yards a carry after 188 carries.

Going with your point. I believe if Grant doesn't flash his '07 form, we will indeed see what Jackson can do in a wider role. That excites me.

I don't understand how people can be so excited about a back who has spent more of his career injured than healthy. Banking on Lumpkin is nothng more than a sheer gamble: sure, it has a big potential upside, but the downside is much more probable.

Also Lumpkin may not make the team. Wynn is the most physical gifted... that being said if he gets he's head in the right place he could do great. That being said I don't think he's gonna get his head straight enough to be a starter but maybe enough to make the team as the #3...

The best part of the article was that Lumpkin got his degree-Congratulations to him. That said, I also believe he is the best back on the Packers. But, sadly, I also believe he'll never get to show it because of injuries. They're just too many, too consistently. That's too bad because a premier back would make our offense really good and he seems to be a very good person, a little good fortune would be nice.

I said it way back.....but firmly believe that DeShawn Wynn will make some big noise this year. From everything I have heard, he has been working hard, is in great shape, and the lightbulb seems to have gone on for him in terms of needing to be available through injury.

Big guy, great burst, nimble feet....if his head is on straight, we have ourselves a keeper!
