I think only 3 other WRs have scored more TDs than Greg in the last 2 years combined. I do think Greg is a top 10 WR because he excels at every aspect of the game.

That being said you don't pay a player based on where people have them ranked. You pay a player based on what they are worth to your team. That is why I don't think we overpaid for Greg. The team is still young and Greg sets a good example with both is attitude and his ability. That is exactly the type of player that is crucial to have on a team like the packers and that's why they showed him the $$.

Does anybody honestly think if Greg hit the open market he would make less than what we paid him? I think we actually got a good deal. =)

Outstanding reminder to all.

I am a CHEAPSKATE with GBP money, much less my own. I am waiting to hear the exact details of this contract, and will reserve the right to bitch, but I think Steve's post is at once the most accurate on the subject thus far, and I further understand that it is NOT in contradiction to some other perspectives, including 93z's.

I needed some cheerful news this morning, and I sure did get it! Woooo!!! Go Gregorious. It's your birthday. It's your birthday.

$9 mill a year sounds about right. I thought maybe 8 but this works. I was also hoping for a 4 year extension. Ah well. Good enough!!!

I haven't seen an official report that he signed which includes the terms...only strong speculation, so I think it's an accurately titled thread (maybe I'm a little biased though :)

As for Greg, I see what you're saying pack 93z...the top 5-12 or so WRs in the league are subjective and cloudy, so Greg could fit anywhere in that mix. If I were running the team, however, I think his tremendous character (e.g. how he handled this contract situation) and leadership on the young team is more than worth debatably overpaying him.

As someone else pointed out, too, I bet he gets the 30 mil (or w/e the contract is) from the raiders or some other team on the open market.

If he has been signed, then I am GLAD I was wrong about the estimated timing. One less thing for Ted Thompson critics to bitch about. 🙂

If this does get finalized, i'm curious to know who came up with the 3 year extension if it was Greg or if it was TT. I'm leaning more to it being Greg because if you think about it Ted Thompson technically had Jennings locked up thru 2011 if there wasn't a cba in place.
Either way it was nice to see Ted Thompson spend some money.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
