The following is the Q&A after Monday night's 24-19 victory over the Minnesota Vikings:

Q. Overall, what did you think of the performance of quarterback Aaron Rodgers?

A. I thought he went through his progressions really well. I wasn't surprised that the offense started slow. I think it was good play-calling by (Mike) McCarthy to get him out of the pocket. People probably didn't know he was that fast. The pass he threw to (Greg) Jennings - the long pass - the pass he hit (Donald) Driver on that was called back and another pass he threw over the middle to Driver, he showed that he can throw with velocity. I was very happy with his overall performance. I think everybody in the stadium was shocked; I wasn't. Aaron has the mind of a golfer. You can hit a bad shot or you can hit a 50-foot birdie putt and it's the same to him. He doesn't get rattled, you can't intimidate him, he's a cool, calm guy. It didn't bother him all those comments the Vikings made during the week. He doesn't care that there are 40 Jets jerseys in the stands. It doesn't bother him. It doesn't bother him if he looks in the stands and see's a sign about Brett. This is one of the mentally toughest guys for someone in his age group I've seen in a long time. You have to be mentally tough to fill Brett Favre's shoes.

Q. How much can you see them getting out of his running ability? Can they incorporate that into their offense?

A. They do a lot of play-action and bootlegs and a lot of sprint options to get him out of the pocket anyway. They can use that. You have to give McCarthy a lot of credit for moving his quarterback around. He can be a scrambling quarterback, he can be a pocket passer, he can do it all. He can make all the throws. A lot of veterans can't make all the throws. He can throw the ball 56 yards with a tight spiral, he can throw a 25-yard comeback, he can dump it over the middle. But he also knows he's not going to complete 18 of 22 every time. That's why I like him. He's mentally tough.

Q. What did you see on defense that you liked and what did you see that you didn't like?

A. What I saw on defense that I liked, I saw 11 guys to the ball. This defense is probably one of the top three fastest defenses in the league. They hit you. They don't make a lot of mistakes. And they don't put themselves in bad situations. You know, second and 1, third and inches, they make you earn it. And for the most part they tackle well. There were a few missed tackles, but they tackle well. What needs to improve are the run angles. On Adrian Peterson's long run there were some bad angles taken. On another couple runs where Travaris Jackson ran the ball there were some bad angles. But everything can be corrected.

Q. Have you ever seen a game with more dumb penalties committed?

A. They had, what, a first-and-33 after consecutive penalties? I'll put that on rust and them being excited on Monday Night Football, first game. Those kind of things hurt you, but those are mental errors that can be corrected. I don't think that's going to be a trend because McCarthy has them coached so well. You're going to have penalties, but not consecutively. Those are the ones that hurt you. Some of that is mental mistakes. The offensive line really didn't perform well during the pre-season, so I wasn't surprised it took them a little while to get going. But I think they've made a vast improvement from the San Francisco game to now. And that's how it is. They didn't give up any sacks. I'll give up a few penalties here and there for no sacks. Jared Allen, did he even play? How did he do? I didn't even see him out there. So before we kill the offensive line, let's look at no sacks, over 100 yards rushing. Those are the positives. I give James Campen a lot of credit. He had them ready.

I loved LeRoy bashing Allen. Classic. :thumbleft:

I do not have a great deal of respect for Leroy, the money grabbing guy who dishes fans, and demands his Autograph is worth more now than it was before.

I seen it personally when I was in Green Bay, and attended his birthday party at Champions Sports Bar. The man is all about the cash. Verry sad.

A solid analysis from Leroy. I like what he said about Aaron Rodgers' mental toughness and his ability to make all the throws. Thanks for the article, wpr.

Yeah I know. There are a number of ex players that are all about the money. Jerry Kramer comes to mind. He was doing an autograph signing in the parking lot at Stadium View before one of the games a couple of years back. This was right after his SB ring had been recovered.
I was walking by on the way to the stadium. There was no one in line waiting to speak to him or to get his autograph. I walked up to tell him congratulations. He looked away from me and started to talk to one of his handlers. I walked to the other side of the table and was waiting for him to finish what he wasy saying. Some one else looked at me and said if I wanted to talke to him I would have to buy a ticket. I figured screw him. Now I don't care at all about him getting the ring back.

Edgar is a class individual, I have met him several times back in the early 90's, very nice guy. He enjoys a good laugh, he would come into my office and tell a joke most of the time when he came in. Add to it he went to FSU..

I also have met LeRoy on several occasions as well, albeit in the early to mid 90's and I didn't see the same type of behavior that others here did. I seen a guy that had an ego, but seemed like a pretty decent fellow. Apparently times have changed.
