so when Brett says Walker needs to get in camp and live up to his contract he is just the good ole county boy awww shucks he is just being honest its peaches and cream

Rodgers does it with some pissy remarks but even PRAISES Kamp, and he is blasted

Can you say

Double standard

I knew you could

I'm not sure what it matters here, but when Favre spoke out on Walker, it was a little different. Walker was spouting off quite a bit (see Jim Rome show). Walker had one good year, demanded money, held out. Kampman has had several good years and is not holding out and is not spouting off.

If you take it at face value of a QB calling a teammate out, then yeah there's not much difference. However, if you indulge into the scenarios a little, there is a huge difference in my opinion.

Bottom line: Rodgers came off as a jerk. He said somethings some would rather him not have said. He and Kampman are very good friends so I don't see why worry about it. I'm sure Kampman spoke with Rodgers about this if it bothered him and Rodgers will speak more on it and maybe back pedal or say he was off key for saying what he did in the tone he did.

Or, we'll just move on with our lives and be happy that both players are in camp and busting there asses off.

I'm starting to think that Rodgers is just a prick.

I was going to stay out of this debate -- simply because my bias toward Aaron Rodgers is too well known and I knew I wouldn't be able to stay objective -- but I found statements like this so amazing that I have to respond. With all due respect, this statement represents a gross double standard that I can't understand.

The fact is we all KNOW Brett Favre was a prick. The stories of his prickishness were legion: being late to meetings, rudeness to fans, refusal to sign autographs for kids, drunken all-nighters, drug addiction, etc. etc. etc. People I know from Green Bay tell me that he and his posse were absolute bastards in the bars back in the day. Hell, his own wife packed her bags to leave him and he had to beg her on his knees to stay. And now the whole drama the past two years. He was a prick and remains a prick. And yet he has received nothing but blind adulation from fans for almost two decades. And that's fine! I don't hold that against anyone. He did some amazing things on the field, where it counts.

But in stark contrast we have Aaron Rodgers, about whom absolutely no such stories have emerged. Who has been almost unfailingly friendly and gracious, has kept a cool head under extreme pressure, has gone out of his way to ingratiate himself to his teammates. Yet somehow he's received nothing but flak from so many fans. He makes two less-than-tactful comments over the course of the year -- comments which in their broad context make a lot of sense -- and now he's a prick? He even gets called out for going on dates with hot women (yes, at least once on this very board) . . . from some of the very same people who I've seen brag about how hot Deanna Favre is?

I couldn't care less whether anyone in Packer Nation likes Rodgers or not (though why you wouldn't is beyond me), but in my opinion, anyone who wants to call him out for his peccadilloes damn well better be willing to call Favre into account for his mistakes, too.

As Jesus so famously said, "How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye" (Matthew 7:4-5).

Amen. 😉

As far as I am concerned, Rodgers comes off as a sniffling little spoiled Cali dickhead.. and I would have no problem saying that to his face off camera either.

This very topic isn't going to change how I view Rodgers the QB.. but I sure in the hell will keep it in my memory someplace in case he continues the BS. I don't care for the attitude, "it is what it is".

And I am sure he is losing sleep because I think he comes off as a spoiled little shit.

I find it comical that Rodgers will be forever linked to Favre.. it is always an instant comparison.

It is okay to give Rodgers a free pass because someone else was a dink?

I am purely forming an opinion on Rodgers himself and the way he conducted himself. Free of comparison to another... he utter the words himself with his inflection upon the words.. IMO, no comparison to anyone is needed.

Wow, really?

I liked Aaron Rodgers a lot after seeing the pre-draft special where they take the top prospects in the draft to meet the commissioner etc.. In fact, he was the only one I liked. Braylon Edwards is the one who seemed like a prick. Rodgers was personable and respectful, and got along with everyone.

My opinion of him sure hasn't changed either, except I think he comes across as a very cool customer. I mean, as has been stated, Favre drank and partied his hick ass all over Wisconsin and was adored. Rodgers acted like he respects his organization and opportunity, and he was cussed at by kids.

I was a HUGE Favre fan. If Rodgers has success any where near what Favre had, I can safely say I will probably enjoy cheering for him more than Brett.

And in regards to that last post, I don't think he needs a free pass, so the point is moot in my mind.

Yes really I think in that interview he came off as a pissy little diva.

And yes, if somehow my opinion mattered to him and he ask, I would tell him he came off as a dickhead.

Again, I have praised this guy plenty over the past year, for the majority how he handled himself during the Favregate.. the way he shrugged off those that belittled him and flung insults at him.

I praised him for his play last season, his heart getting up time and time again after getting blasted, the way he commanded the offense and the care he took with the football... I can't be more happy to have him as our QB.

But comments like this are unbecoming of him and his status as a classy professional football player.

Do I think it is the worst thing that could have happened, nope. But that doesn't mean that I have to respect the way he handled himself.

For the life of me, I can't understand how come people get do defensive about criticizing a player for something that is beneath them as a representative of our Green Bay Packers.

Just as if I step out of line here, I expect someone to call me on it.

Know what is funny.. those the criticize the Pro Favre folks.. are just as; if not more defensive of Rodgers. He is human, bleeds like us all, and makes mistakes like us all.. I happen to think this was a mistake. And if I was a member of the team or Kampman himself, I would have an issue with it.

Easy to throw stones at those in glass houses.. yes I can throw them too. 😉
